The Eurovision drama and uncertainty in Greece is unending, with broadcaster ERT changing their mind about how they’ll choose their 2017 entry every other day. Nothing has been made official yet. In the meantime, two stars that fans repeatedly beg to see on the Eurovision stage have said they want to go or would at least consider it. They are Demy — Greece’s two-time wiwivision representative — and Eurovision 2008 star Kalomira.

Demy at Eurovision 2017?

Earlier this week Demy gave a telling interview on the Greek talk show Ola, saying that she really wants to do Eurovision. She’s not beating around the bush either. As she said:

We’re in talks, we’re looking for a song. We don’t know what the process will be yet, but I want to do Eurovision after I finish my other projects.

At the same time, legendary Eurovision songwriter Dimitris Kontopoulos, who was rumoured to be cooperating with Demy for Eurovision earlier this year, posted a photo saying he’s been in the studio recording new music. He tagged Eurovision and Fokas Evangelinos.

Dimitris has written many Eurovision hits including Russia’s “You Are The Only One” and Azerbaijan’s “Hold Me”, and Fokas has overseen stage direction for plenty of Eurovision entries including “You Are The Only One” and “My Number One”. Could they be preparing a song and show for Demy?

It's this time of the year ? #music

Kalomira to return to Eurovision in 2017?

As we reported a few weeks ago, Kalomira, who achieved third place for Greece at Eurovision 2008, recently returned to Greece after being in New York state for several years. She recently stated that she wouldn’t say no to a Eurovision comeback before 2018.

And then yesterday Kalomira posted a video on her Instagram account, informing her fans that she’s back in the studio recording a new song.

Back in the studio!! #kalomoira #kalomira #?????????

Even more titillating is the fact that Kim Diamantopoulos, an up-and-coming Greek artist, uploaded a picture of him, Kalomira and Konstantinos Pantazis recording together.

Konstantinos is the man who wrote Kalomira’s Eurovision 2008 song “Secret Combination”. Perhaps he and Kalomira are preparing their comeback together?

So what do you think? Could either of these ladies be in the running to sing at Eurovision? And would you want to see them in Kyiv? Let us know in the comments section below.

According to secure information coming from ERT there is going to be an internal selection. The strongest candidate for now is Demy.

I’m sensing Demy, Kalomira and Stereo Soul will be the three candidates to compete for the right of representing Greece. The strongest rumours at this moment is that people will vote based on the video clips of the songs. I like all three of them as names, so I personally will judge solely based on the song.

@Polegend Godgarina

The juries usually care about vocals and history proves it. Israel 2010, Malta 2010, Slovenia 2011, Albania 2012, Spain 2012, Italy 2012, Israel 2013, Moldova 2013, Sweden 2013, Malta 2015, Latvia 2015 (and many others) all had awesome live vocals and the juries rewarded them.

If you think juries vote according to betting odds, how do you explain Russia, who was leading the betting odds came just 5 th last year? I also agree with the majority that kalomira belongs to pre jury period, and she would terribly flop in 2017. Demy with her dream team seems to be the best option for Greece this year.

I like Kalomira. But I don’t think it would be a good idea for her to represent Greece at Eurovision. idk if the jury would like her or not.

I dunno. If neither of them are interested, then how about Sophia Patsalides. She recently celebrated her 16th birthday, thus finally making her eligible for the adult’s Eurovision. Since Hovig is representing Cyprus, Sophia’s only other option is – you guessed it – Greece. If that doesn’t work, she can be the Cypriot spokesperson. We’ll have to find out! 🙂

Greece 2012, mix of Kalorimira and Helena was out of TOP 15 in final, very weird that Greece in semi was on 3 place with juries and in final only 18 place.Greece was only 9 with televote in final and only 5 in semi with televote . And song is simillar like song from 2005,2008 , and singer sing similar like Kalomira in 2008.

I’d love Kalomira to come back but I doubt the song would be as good as secret combination also as someone said below the jury vote would probably kill her

Polegend, I think Laika was in Norway last year, not Greece.

Omg, y’all are delusional if you think that the juries won’t award Kalomira many points because of her limited vocal abilities.
2009’s jury winner was Norway. He missed more notes than he hit.
2010’s jury winner was Germany. Lena had never had any professional vocal training.
2011’s jury runner-up was Azerbaijan. Enough said.
The juries vote mostly based on the betting odds (and I suspect based on EBU’s directions too), they care relatively about the vocals, and it’s no secret.

Secret Combination is one of my favorite Eurovision songs and performances of all time, it’s brilliant in every way. I want some good old dancey laika music from Greece.

No to Kalomira, she can’t sing and she would not do well in 2017.

With juries at Eurovison chance for Kalomira to be in TOP 3 like in 2008 is to low.

It’s Demy’s turn now. Then again, I thought she should have been chosen last year.

Kalomira’s song was bop, but please, no more comebacks at Eurovision, I want to know new artists.
