On the second season of The Voice of Georgia in 2013, she wowed audiences with her covers of Whitney Houston, Leona Lewis and Jennifer Hudson en route to victory.

And now Mariam Chachkhiani wants to showcase her talents to all of Europe as she competes in Georgia’s national final for the Eurovision Song Contest 2017.

The gorgeous singer recently sat down with wiwiblogger Rezo Mamsikashvili in Tbilisi’s Eye Studio, where they discussed the message of her song “Fly” and her experience winning The Voice. The girl has energy and spirit, so grab a Red Bull and let’s do this…

Mariam invited us to her band’s SayHello studio and prior to our interview she performed a bit of her song.

The 21-year-old started singing at the age of three and showed promise and ambition early. She participated in Georgia’s Junior Eurovision national final in 2007, which gave her an early glimpse into stardom. ”It was such a huge step in my life,” she says. “To take part in Eurovision, it always sounds so cool.”

Mariam says the constant travel and competition for The Voice was dizzying.

“I was the winner. But it was really hard to move from one tour to another, because it was so stressful — oh my gosh. But I did every kind of thing that I wanted to do. I remember it was the final tour when I was standing on the stage and they announced my name as a winner and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I’m a winner?’ I was listening to the crowd and people were screaming my name. It was a wonderful time. I am thankful for that moment. ”

The song ”Fly” was written by three members of her band — Joni Titirashvili, Zaza Jojua and Davit Changoshvili.

‘It’s about finding yourself, because in this reality people always want to finally reach their destination, to find their own real selves and I thought that it would be great to write lyrics about that,” she says. “It’s about the fact that every bad thing that happens in our lives always becomes a good thing. So we have to have hope, my friends, and never give up.”

Mariam is a big Eurovision fan as well, naming Nina Sublatti’s ”Warrior” and Loreen’s “Euphoria” as her favourite entries ever.

And that Euro-passion has her hopeful you’ll help get her to the big stage in Kyiv.

”If you like my song, please support me, because it’s a really important thing in my life, that is happening right now.”

That song is nowhere as good as “Gibberish”, I’m afraid it’ll do little to nothing for her.
