It’s all been very quiet from Serbia since they confirmed they were taking part at Eurovision 2017. That news came three months ago at the start of October. Now we know that there’s definitely some movement though, even if it’s all in the shadows. Former national final entrant Danica Krstic is now appearing as a contender to represent her country in Kyiv, thanks to some errant social media posting.

Danica herself has not passed any comments that would put her name in the hat, though. Instead, a post from a member of staff at the Revolution Studio in Belgrade told all. The picture showed Danica working alongside long-time Serbian ESC collaborator, Vladimir Graic.

Tags on the post included “#RTS” and “#Eurovision”. Those tags have now been removed from the post…unless you happen to ask Facebook to translate the post. Turns out the edit function doesn’t take away everything!:

Danica will be familiar to those who followed Serbia’s selection in 2015, “Odbrojavanje do Beca”. She was selected as a wildcard to be one of three artists taking part. Perhaps most tellingly, Vladimir Graic composed all three songs for the national final, where Bojana Stamenov emerged victorious with “Ceo svet je moj” (later “Beauty Never Lies”). Danica finished second with her entry, “Suze za kraj”:

Since then, Danica has been studying in Belgrade at the city’s Faculty of Music, whilst working on new music. In an interview with Novosti, Danica mentions working with Graic on new singles, whilst her upcoming album with have “traditional and newly composed folk music” sounds. An entry along those lines would certainly be something different for Serbia based on their recent efforts!

It would be a special anniversary for Graic if he were involved, too. It would be ten years since he famously composed “Molitva”, Serbia’s only Eurovision winner to date. His last Eurovision involvement came only a few months ago, too. He was part of the team behind Dunja Jelicic’s “U La La La” at Junior Eurovision 2017.

Could Vladimir and Danica Krstic unite to give Serbia their second victory? Do you think Danica would be the right choice for Serbia? Let us know in the comments section below!

She is way too sterile for Eurovision, all nice and decent. Like Jelena Tomasevic. Acting like the Mary Mother of God. Great voice but no spirit. Plain.

“Molitva” is one of my favourite songs of all time! So beautiful, such good voices, so meaningful! Even if I don’t understand a word, I love it! Usually Serbia doesn’t dissapoint me! Since they first paricipated in 2004 as Serbia and Montenegro and after the division of the country, they keep the good work. I really aprreciate that they keep their native language (at least until 2015, when they changed the language to english). My first reaction to that was negative. I was like “Oh, come on. Why did they change the language? English as everyone else!”. In fact, it… Read more »

I didn’t like “Molitiva”. Far too pompus and dated for my liking. (and I don’t like the singer + she has a quite arrogant personality). I generally don’t like Balkan ballads….at least 3 of 4 of them. So I hope she will come up with something more modern and pacy. If she returns that is. not a ballad please!!

No, I think it is time for Serbia to send a guy. There have been nothing but females representing Serbia since 2013.
Also, Vladimir Graic is practically monopolizing the composing of Serbian Eurovision songs, including the Junior Eurovision song that just came in last place this year. (Though the fault is more on the staging and performance, IMHO.)
It is time to have new composers and give the Serbian public a decent sized selection to choose from.
I’m not such a fan of Danica – her voice sounds a bit squeaky to me and often lacks power.

I’m here for a traditional song in the Serbian language. I wanted some Zvezde Granda star like Milena Ceranic, but Danica would be amazing too.

OMG YAS YAS YAS!!!!! She would have been my winner in 2015 if Serbia picked her 😀
At least it’s nice to see that Serbia is going to take it seriously this year, unlike Montenegro who doesn’t seem to care lol
GO DANICA

Serbia’s worst kept secret. 🙂
I remember Danica from the Serbian National Final a few years ago; she’s definitely a good choice.

Serbia won in 2007, is it time for another victory this year like Norway 1985 and 1995.

No, not again. Like Serbia doesn’t have any other author than Vladimir Grajic. Danica is great but she is performing more traditional songs, and another balkan ballad for Serbia would be too much. I hope that we will hear some modern up-to-date song perfored by young artist from Serbia. Luke Black would be a grat choice!

For me she deserved to won in 2015, but we all know before the selection that Bojana would won. Juries put Danica only to 3 last place underseved and put Bojana on first, and in televote Bojana won televote with 2500 sms votes higher than Danica.
