You love Belarus! And on January 20 thirteen acts will compete in the national final. Their aim: To represent the Eastern European nation at Eurovision 2017 in Kyiv. In late November, we put the question out to you guys – who should win the national final? After counting a total of 2,774 votes, we can now reveal that our readers want NAVI to go to Eurovision 2017 with “Historyja majho zyccia”.

Equally as popular with our Wiwi Jury, NAVI’s take on Belarusian folk-rock has obviously impressed our readers too. Chief wiwiblogger William describes the entry as “wild, rambling, uplifting and just a little bit crazy,” adding that this song has “character and personality in spades and it sounds current but indigenous at the same time”.

The song finished first in our poll, taking 656 votes — or around 24% of all votes cast. Impressive!

Second place in the readers’ poll goes to Vladislav Kurasov and his song “Follow The Play”.

Interestingly, Vladislav only placed ninth in the Belarusian Wiwi Jury this year. Ouch!

His powerful ballad combined with his soft, doll-like facial features gained him a respectable 14.35% of all votes.

Third place went to Belarusian national final returnee NAPOLI (not to be confused with the popular pasta sauce).

Her song “Let’s Come Together” was immediately memorable from the live trials due to her commanding stage presence (and her well-trained backing dancers).

NAPOLI faired well with the Wiwi Jury, placing fifth out of the thirteen entries. She finished third in the readers poll with 349 votes. That’s 12.58% of the total.

POLL RESULTS: BELARUS NATIONAL FINAL 2017

  1. NAVI with “Historyja majho zyccia” – 23.65% (656 votes)
  2. Vladislav Kurasov with “Follow The Play” – 14.35% (398 votes)

They’ve got Nuteki chained up in a cage. This is hilarious!! 🙂
By the way, Navi band were good live (even if I don’t like that song).
I think I missed Vlad because of the delays in finding the stream, so i’ll have to look at his performance another time.

@cheesecake – Well, that link doesn’t contain a live stream and a You Tube one is also not working. Does Belarus have a stream at all for other countries to see?

I really want Navi to win, this is great, it reminds me of the Lumineers.

Will there be a split jury/televote result?

Either this or Nuteki to represent Belarus. But Vladislav Kurasov is good too, though.

Navi to win ????

Either Navi or Nuteki have a good chance of qualifying if all elements come together on stage, I hope Navi win so we can hear Belarusian at ESC and they just seem authentic 🙂

It’s not even a question, Navi is the correct choice to win. I don’t even like their song that much, but the rest of the bunch is nothing to be proud of.

If they can pull off a good performance – Nuteki is the winner here.

But I really like Isaac (he sounds a lot like the very underrated Will Young).

Nuteki needs to go to Kiev. Really the only entry with any lift and modern appeal

Of course they are, I need to hear the Belarusian language at the contest. The song itself is great and it has the final on lock, the televoters of Europe love this type of folk tunes.

Belarus has two amazing choices – NAVI and KATTIE! Either would probably be in my overall top 10. Please Belarus, for once do the right thing and send a great song!

No act is good enough to pass the SF, so the selection is basically a waste of time

Would be perfectly happy with NAVI winning this year (though I prefer Nuteki). I don’t understand the love of Follow the Play. He’s cute and has a good voice, but the song goes absolutely nowhere for the first 90 seconds, and then after that the only place it goes is into his falsetto which isn’t interesting enough. And that 30 second lyricless interlude KILLS the momentum.
