One month from today, we will know who will represent Moldova at Eurovision 2017. Meanwhile, the 14 semi-finalists of Moldova’s national selection O melodie pentru Europa 2017 will have to face off for a spot in the final one day earlier. After listening to them in the live auditions, it’s time to cast your vote for your favourite acts from the semi-final on the 24th of February. Who do you want to see in Moldova’s National Final?

Eight songs will advance from the semi-final on 24 February to the National Final on the next day. Four of these finalists will be chosen by the jury. Then the public will have the opportunity to choose the remaining four acts. In a bid to reduce corruption and manipulation of the televote, only one vote per telephone number will be allowed for each song. That marks a significant change from recent years. In the final, the winner will be determined by the standard 50% jury, 50% televote split.

Meanwhile, it’s time for you to have your say and let us know who should advance and who should stay in the semi-final. After listening to all the songs, listed in alphabetical order of the artists’ names, go the poll at the bottom of the article and cast your vote. We will close the poll on the day of the semi-final (24 February), when we will present the results.

Generally, dissapointment. However, I liked “Dor de mama”, it’s a classic ballad with a nice singer”Discover Moldova” has this folk element I like (like Russia 2012) and “Don’t like” cause it’s dark.
Now, let’s forget what I said and focus on “Hey mamma”. This is THE song. It immediately stands out from the others. I think with this song Moldova will qualify and, why not, do well.
Sunstroke Project – “Hey Mamma”: yes
THE ONE – “Dance”:
Valeria Pasa – “Freedom”:

Vozniuc is fantastic by the way. Okay, there is a lyrical issue in the Chorus (“What you wanted to prove?” – this should be “What did you want to prove?”), but leaving that aside I just love this hilariously posh lyric in a rock entry: “I’ll never forget your… charming smile.” Oh darling! 😀
I love this entry because of the amazing rock vocals, and the uniquely posh English that goes with it. 🙂

I don’t know if anyone has noticed this yet, but the chord structure of Sandy C’s “A Beautiful World” is almost identical to Sanna Nielsen’s “Undo.” This includes the amounts of bars (or measures) used within the v/c structure, as well as the precise position and tonality of the key change raise. Really the only difference comes in the two bars making up the Coda. So, it’s not quite plaigiarism, but at a technical level it is extremely close to it. (I thought that was interesting.)

Sunstroke Project, without a doubt. Make Moldova great again.

(“Don’t Lie” would be my choice if “Hey Mamma” wasn’t competing, but since they are, it’s just not acceptable to send something else.)

Of course, I’m writing after listening the studio version. The audio of audition was a real pain, it seems like they were recording in a bathroom.

The Discover Moldova group. The ONLY good song in a terrible national selection, as usual, from 2014…How much I miss the lovely previous Moldovan entries!

I find the average level here is quite low. The most decent songs/performances to me are Freedom and Hey mamma! The rest is really forgettable.

Boris Covali is my favorite. I don’t really get the fuss over SunStroke Project. A very average song, just like their original Eurovision entry.
