We are getting closer to finding out who will represent Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017. Finland’s national selection Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu 2017 will take place on this Saturday. Our readers have been voting for their favourite(s) over the past week and now it’s time to go through the results.

Once again it’s Emma who came out on top. Earlier Emma was your early favourite to win the contest and y’all are still loving her “Circle of Light“. And even more than before — this time she got 40% of the 2213 total votes.

In second place is Lauri Yrjölä who is singing “Helppo elämä” — the only song in Finnish in this year’s UMK. In the early favourites poll Lauri finished third but has now climbed to the second spot. Lauri got 300 votes which is 14% of all the votes.

Lauri Yrjölä knocked Norma John from second place. The indie pop duo finished third this time with their dramatic “Blackbird“. They got 267 votes which is 12% of all the votes. 16-year-old Alva finished fourth with “Arrows” ahead of Zühlke and her “Perfect Villain“.

Emma didn’t just win our poll, but got the most votes in the online pre-vote too. Anyone in Finland could vote once for their favourite song for free on YLE’s website. Those votes will be added to the televote results on Saturday. My First Band finished second and Zühlke came third.

For those asking if you can watch from abroad – I believe they’re streaming the show live unrestricted on the UMK website http://yle.fi/aihe/umk.

Emma and Norma John are the only ones who have the most chances of qualifying for Finland out of everyone else. Because tons of people seem to love Circle of Light or like the song, it’s likely Emma will make it easier for Finland to make it back to the final, if she manages to have great staging and good vocals live.

Oh, and if Emma doesn’t win UMK, Finland can kiss my paradise!!

So apparently William Lee Adams is in Finland right now and has some part in UMK itself? He could be on the jury. But anyways, I’m looking forward to it more now than I was earlier this week.
As for the live channel stream; to be honest I usually get it from the Eurovision Twitter feed when the broadcast is starting – someone usually posts a direct streaming link on there.

If Emma will win I hope her staging will be like Eva Rivas – Armenia 2010, not like Ruslana cave woman full of fur.

I pray that Lauri has a good live vocal and at least finishes in top three

Personally, I would HATE if the Club Le Perse wins this. But then again, I would love to hate on that song, so at least that one would be settled. Paradise, on the other hand, in an example of a bland, bland song, alike that one they had last year. Emma, Gunther, Norma John, Lauri, Zuhlke and Alva, on the other hand, all have good songs, so either of these would make my day, especially if the performance is good. If I had to pick one, that would be Gunther/D’Sanz. Since Austria brought asses in 2011 we haven’t had a… Read more »

Believe me Club La Perse is coming in final and it will get plenty of votes. All others are so boring and nothing. Everybody waits only Club La Perse performance and talks about it. I don`t know if its good that there is international jury, I hope they don`t spoil the party. Club La Perse represent life in Finland perfectly, its 100 years gift to all Europe and will give to eurovision a lot of happiness and love.

Milla I agree with you. Emma song is most overrated song in finish final by some eurovision fan. She look only like winner from Denmark 2013, but song is not good as song from 2013 and some songs from Ireland in past with simillar sound like Ireland 2014. Song sound like not good mix of songs from Denmark 2013 and Ireland 2014 and stage performance wili be simillar with Ukraine 2004 . But I think Finland will made mistake 3 years in row. In 2015 Opera Skaala and Angelo de Nille would gave Finland final and maybe TOP 10 .… Read more »

Pre-vote will just be added to the televoting during the show, and all those votes will together make the 50%.

What is so special about Emma and “Circle of light” ? Emma’s voice sound a bit childish and the song is about four years too late. “Only Teardrops” was a lot better in “those days”. If she comes to ESC then I don’t think people will vote for her. They have seen and heard it before.

Only with Norma , Finland have chance to be in TOP 10 . With Emma, FInland will have same faith like Iceland 2016 or Malta 2016 , fan favorite who are flop, one in semi and one in final and flop for Malta would be harder but thanks to overrated points by juries they save them of big flop in final.

5% is not too bad.
Am glad that Emma got so much of the vote considering it was open to Finland only. Hers is a Eurovision-friendly song so although a lot of Europeans like it, no guarantee that the Finnish would feel the same.
