Hungary‘s national selection A Dal continued tonight, with six acts more qualifying for the semi-finals. Kallay Saunders Band, Gina Kanizsa, Peet Project, Chase, Mrs. Columbo and Ádám Szabó will be heading to the semi-finals in February.

Tonight’s first five qualifiers were determined by a combination of televote and an expert jury made up of Hungarian music industry pros Caramel, Zséda, Károly Frenreisz and Miklós Both.

This vote was won by Kallay Saunders Band and Gina Kanizsa, both on 42 points. Next was the Peet Project on 40 points, Chase on 39 points, and Mrs. Columbo on 38 points.

The sixth qualifier was selected by a second round of public voting. The public agreed with the results of the first round — the sixth spot went to Adam Szabo who also placed sixth in the first round.

The qualifiers will go on to compete in the semi-finals, which start in early February. They’ll be joined by Benji, David Henderson, Leander Kills, Roma Soul,  Spoon 21 and Viki Singh from the first heat, and the final six qualifier’s from the third heat next week.

A Dal – Heat 2 qualifiers

  1. Kállay Saunders Band – “17” (42 points)
  2. Gina Kanizsa – “Fall Like Rain” (42 points)
  3. Peet Project – “Kill Your Monster” (4o points)
  4. Chase – “Dust In the Wind” (39 points)
  5. Mrs. Columbo – “Frozen King” (38 points)
  6. Ádám Szabó – “Together” (38 points)

A Dal – Heat 2 eliminated acts

  • Zoltán Mujahid – “On My Own” (36 points)
  • Peter Kovary & The Royal Rebels – “It’s a Riot” (36 points)
  • AnnaElza feat. Juli Kása – “Jártam” (34 points)
  • Andi Tóth – “I’ve Got a Fire” (34 points)

Wiwibloggs readers didn’t quite agree with Hungary’s favourite. In our recent reader’s poll, Adam Szabo topped the vote with 19.57%. However, he was the lowest scoring of the six qualifiers. Conversely, Gina Kanizsa topped the A Dal vote but placed last in the poll with only 2.17%.

However, qualifiers Chase, Kallay Saunders Band, Mrs. Columbo were your next top picks, but Peet Project was outside of the poll’s top six.

What do you think? Is there a potential A Dal winner amongst these acts? Share your thoughts below!

Kallay Saunders Andras is such a nice person, in 2014 he could win, but he was not aware he could. I wish he will bring victory for his country. Many eastern countries deserve to win, but other countries just think about records. This arrogance will bring to them 0 points (maybe 10 or 20).

“Together” came last in this heat?? This is strange for me. I really like this song.
I don’t like “17” but I was sure it would qualify.

I’m from Hungary, and trust me, our jury is an idiot.

I don’t know how on earth that Gina Kanizsa qualified????? This time, the public was more “reliable”, they gave the song what it truly deserves.

I am not very convinced with KSB. He really has an unfair advantage.

Together by Adam Szabo is giving me a PIONEER vibe. don’t know.

I just watched the 2nd heat of A Dal, and here’s how I scored them (+ qualifiers): 9.413 Kállay-Saunders Band: “17”+ [He and his band came prepared this time. No sound-check screwups. Hopefully it holds for the final, where Roma Soul, Spoon 21 and Totova will be tough competition.] 9.35 Zoltán Mujahid: “On My Own” [How he didn’t qualify, and Gina Kanizsa did, I’ll never figure out.] 9.35 Ádám Szabó: “Together”+ [I figured he’d qualify on the lyrics and message alone.] 9.30 Mrs. Columbo: “Frozen King”+ [Excellent tech performance though I believe they’ll have to run a gauntlet just to… Read more »

Gina was amazing btw. Better than Georgia, UK and Finland’s actual winners.
Zoli was unlucky.

Those blonde braids have got to go, I’m sorry. They look okay (just about) when he wears them up, but when he lets them loose…no, just no.

If Kalláy-Saunders did well ONCE at the contest, that doesn’t mean that all he touches is gold. This ’17’ song is actually terrible, but it’s the 2nd most successful Hungarian at the Eurovision, so of course they’re going to like it. This heat was pretty uneventful anyway – Kalandor and Hoszzu idok are coming for wigs next week!

Kállay Saunders is totally overrated just because he has competed before.

Well, in the end, it got quite messy XD I think these acts should have been eliminated: KSB, because it’s soooooo bad, soooooo overrated >:( Kanizsa Gina, not because I didn’t like it, but this song is reallly forgotable AnnaElza & Kása Juli, I liked it in the sutdio version, it wasn’t nearly as good here. Tóth Andi, another forgotable song, bad live perforance. So yeah, KSB and Gina in the first place are really surprising me XD I think Mujahid Zoli had the best live vocals. I’m happy Peet Project got such a decent place 🙂 Chase was a… Read more »
