Hej Sverige! Melodifestivalen 2017 kicks off this Saturday with the first semi-final in Gothenburg. Seven acts will sing for two places in the grand final and two places in the Andra Chansen round. The show will be hosted by Melodifestivalen stars David Lindgren and Hasse Andersson along with comedian Clara Henry.

The first semi-final is packed with big stars as well as some interesting newcomers. Eurovision winner Charlotte Perrelli is coming back to Melodifestivalen, but the song is said to be much different from her previous entries.

Boris René will make a return for his second year after reaching tenth place in the Melfest final last year. Two-time finalist Ace Wilder will sing “Wild Child” this year and Dinah Nah, who sang “Make Me (La La La)” in 2015, will also return to the contest.

But which deltävling 1 act are you most excited for? Vote in our poll! You can vote for your favourites by simply checking to box next to their name and click “vote”. We will close the poll on Thursday, February 2, when we will hear the first clips of the competing songs.

Melodifestivalen 2016: Deltävling 1, Gothenburg

3. Dinah Nah with “One More Night”

I think Nano will surprice and reach to a broather audiense here i sweden. But I really hope that Ace will have a performance and song that match what she has delivered erlier years. Most people that I was talking to was dissapointed last year and thought that Don’t worry was as good as Busy, busy. Calott Perelly realise that she probably won’t even reach to second chance. She is in it for other reasons. She will probably be last of everybody. It’s a song that has NO chance. Road trip will probably get my doughters wote. This years Samir… Read more »

This year a change has been made. On Thursday afternoons SVT will release one minute of the songs for the first time. And clips from the rehearsals as usual. And as before 2.30 of the songs will be released on Saturdays.

A bit curious about Nano. Ace Wilder will probobly not win Melodifestivalen but make it to the final or in worst case to AC. I’m tired of Charlotte. The first semifinal is the one I’m least excited about. I want to see Loreen, The Foo Conspiracy, Mariette, Robin Bengtsson, Wiktoria, Jon-Henrik Fjällgren. Did I forget someone? There are so many. I have high expectations this year. Rumours say that many songs will probobly fight for the victory and that the new- comers might surprise. So I’m keeping my eyes and ears open not just for the big names but others… Read more »

I haven’t heard any audioclips yet (and if anyone knows where to find them, please point me to the site); but for a raw guess, I’d say Ace (with a new look, no less) will go straight to the final. As for the next 2 spots, For Boris and Dinah, one will go to the final and the other will go to Andra Chansen, depending on what they bring to the stage. If there’s a surprise from any of the others, I think Boris will be in more trouble because he is singing first. I don’t think Charlotte will qualify… Read more »

really let’s face it…the true excitement will be the biggest storm that is coming: LOREEN, our ESC Queen !!
She has our hearts, with her we will never be worlds apart 🙂
So much exciting !

Otherwise excitement for:
Mariette — still don’t stop believing for her
Ace Wilder — she great but probably third time might not win again but…don’t worry it’s alright
Charlotte Perrelli — I think she had her best day but our…love will survive
Wiktoria — save me, I can’t get enough of you
Lisa Ajax — very pretty.

When I saw this article I was like “Oh, my God! Did they release the songs?” and then dissapointment. We can’t really express an opinion, as we haven’t heard the songs yet.
I didn’t know there’s so mych buzz around Nano. I’ve read good things about him and his song. So, looking forward to his performance.
I also want to see Boris Rene and Ace Wilder, as I liked their performances last year.
Melodifestivalen is about to start guys! So excited!

The name of these singers mean nothing UNLESS the songs are really good … so what are you judging really? Based on what?

The hype over Nano! Hope his song is as good or even better than “Perfect Melody” and “Lion”.. If it is, he will go far this year! Looking forward to see what De Vet Du does on stage as well.. The others? Not so much.. Ace will most likely not beat “Busy Doing Nothing” this year either but prob go through on her name.. Charlotte Perelli could finish last, we are tired of her. Dinah Nah and Boris Rene will most likely battle it out with De Vet Du for the second chance spots. Adrijanas ghetto rap is just fill… Read more »

As much as I love and honour Charlotte Perrelli, Ace Wilder is the biggest name in this heat – she really impressed me last year and made me believe she could actually win Melfest (given the right conditions).

Isaac Visser: Well I wouldnt say its weird that Ace Wilders song is just 50% uptempo. Her song last year wasnt that uptempo. Busy Doing Nothing was way more uptempo than Dont Worry. So I expect something like Dont Worry.

Interesting that Ace Wilder’s song is only 50% tempo, normally they’re dance tracks that she puts forward, but I hope she bucks the trend well.

I’m very excited to see what Nano brings to MelFest. I’ve only heard positive rumours about his song.
