“Make ’em wait!” That’s what we’re hearing from Dutch sisters Lisa, Amy and Shelley — O’G3NE. They revealed today that they’ve chosen their song for Kyiv. The catch is that we have to wait until March to hear it!

The news comes on the same day as the Semi Final allocation draw. There, we found out The Netherlands will be performing in the second semi final on May 11.

In their first reaction, the sisters said:

“We would really want to get the title to The Netherlands. To make this happen we should win from everyone in the competition, so it does not matter who we will face on our road to it. Our focus is on our own strength and we are really busy to find a perfect team around us.

After a long process we know now which song we will sing to represent The Netherlands in Kyiv. We are really enthusiastic and right now we are busy making an amazing track from the demo we have right now. In the beginning of March, we will proudly release our song to the people.”

At the start of the month, the group revealed they had three songs to choose from. There’s no more information as to which one they have selected — could they have dumped their dad’s song?

The Netherlands to perform in the second semi final

Earlier today in Kyiv, we learned O’G3NE will perform in the first half of the second semi final. This will be the first time since Joan Franka in 2012 that the Netherlands will perform in the second semi final.

Whilst the first semi has mostly given them good luck since Anouk’s success in Malmo, there’s still good news. France and Germany, both friendly voting countries, will be voting in the Dutch semi.

So, will the girls go with a ballad like many of their 2017 countries so far, or will they bring something up-tempo? What kind of song would you like to see O’G3NE sing at Eurovision 2017? Are you excited to see what they’ll bring to the stage? Let us know in the comments below!

“France doesn’t vote for the Netherlands”??? Not true. According to the stats, France has given the second most points to the Netherlands, obviously after Belgium, so I’m pretty sure France has their aim at their island sharing brother.

They are not the usual, fake, girl group. They are sisters, have chemistry, they are born a group.
My guess is that viewers will like them more than jury.
IL VOLO ALERT !!! Remember that Il Volo won the televote, jury made them lose.

Too ugly to win?!?!?! Don’t think so…
The Netherlands is one of the stronger eurovision countries now, so i expect them to be in the final (100% sure with their live vocals and taste). If they pick an uptempo song, i feel like they will be opening the second semi.

Countries that juries pushed so hard in past few year from 2012 to 2016. Australia, Sweden, Malta , Azerbaijan, in often cases Israel, Italy, Ukraine especialy in 2012, and in last 2 year in that group joined The Netherlands and Belgium.
Countries that juries did nt like so much in past few years Poland, Germany, San Marino, in often cases Russia.

I think fight for victory wili be between EBU baby Australia and Sweden. In group of other strong contender for win this year we have Greece, Russia ( if juries give them maxium 50 points less than other favorite like Australia, Sweden) and Armenia and maybe Denmark, Norway (if they send good song this year).

If the song is good, they have it. Netherlands smells like a winner.

They need a good song so much. Some contestants can do well only because charisma, but the 3 sisters seem so sure of themselves …….
They must be modest and deliver a good performance, it is a cruel competition and not everybody cares that you can scream.

No, Ruud Buscher, no one is saying that. It’s a great semi! A semi without a lot of sure qualifiers and with western countries!

France and Germany, both friendly voting countries, will be voting in the Dutch semi.—> so what? France does not have a tradition of voting for Netherlands.

Anyway, Netherlands can do it either with countries from eastern bloc or not. If you’ve got a big performance, there’s no need to be scared (see 2014). Last year they made it even though their SF had a lot of eastern countries.

I believe their song will be midtempo and it will be good.

Also, the fact that you called Italy’s artists “boring” invalidates your post. Giusy Ferreri is literally the textbook definition of talent and quality.

“…we should win from everyone in the competition, so it does not matter who we will face on our road to it. Our focus is on our own strength… ” I couldnt agree more! Now give us a good song.

@ Frau Von Storch – E.N.I. from Croatia sang flawlessly in 1997, but their song was a bit too contemporary at a time where the juries wanted schlager. Feminnem, still from Croatia, performed their ballad flawlessly in 2010, and it’s still a mystery to me how they flopped so hard. Philippa Farrugia Randon, the lead singer of Times Three from Malta, also sang very well, but Europe didn’t respond to their love and peace song. I guess it’s mostly bad luck, but a country like the Netherlands which doesn’t get free votes from anyone has to work it in order to… Read more »

About girl bands flopping, I don’t think that was because of the fact people don’t like girl bands, but because they had weak songs. We heard similar things before: ‘Men never win, country doesn’t score, dance music is chanceless’, etc, til men started to win, common linnets was in top-3, Loreen won with a dance song, etc. I think the best thing is to wait and see what the song is like…

Now, we all know that girl bands have a history of flopping at the Eurovision. From E.N.I. to Times Three to XXL to Feminnem to Moje 3… the only ones that slayed the scoreboard were Serebro. O’G3NE need an amazing song in order to do well.

About the semi, I’m quite happy with it. This semi could go anywhere and if the song is good enough, there are enough Western countries who will vote for us. Besides, Estonia and Denmark are the two countries who voted for us a lot the last few years (Denmark even gave 7 to Trijntje so I’m quite sure we’ll get some from them) xD Also San Marino seemed to like us a lot in the semis of 2014 and 2016 so…

@ruud buscher
The Eurovision ‘experts’ say it’s a bad semi, because Belgium isn’t in it and Russia is. But it’s an excellent semi for Holland, not a lot of sure qualifiers and quite a few countries with similar music taste to ours. If they don’t qualify, it will simply be because they sucked.

Everyone in The Netherlands is saying they’re in a bad semi, but anyone with a good and universal song can qualify. Thereby, we indeed have Germany and France as regular voters and also 10 other countries which regularly vote for us in the past 4 years (since Anouk). I’m not worrying that much honestly…
