katrina cirule blood runs quicker supernova 2017

We’re not about to let some Spotify drama get in the way of tonight’s Supernova! Whilst Latvian broadcaster LTV are busy identifying fake streams that may inflate voting results, we’re here with our own data. We asked you who you wanted to see qualify from the first heat of Latvia’s Supernova 2017, which takes place this evening. After counting 1,239 votes, we can now reveal that Katrina Cirule has come out on top with “Blood Runs Quicker”!

You can livestream the show via the LTV website from 20:25 CET.

Katrina received 250 votes, roughly 20% of the total cast, putting her well clear of her nearest rivals. It’s her second attempt at Supernova after she appeared in 2015 with “Bass”. Katrina also charts well with the Wiwi Jury, where she currently sits in second place.

Wiwiblogger Kristin writes that “the production of the song is sleek and Katrina is rather hip”, whilst Chris says “it’s enjoyable and I honestly could see this at Eurovision.”

Second place in the poll goes to Crime Sea with their song “Escape”. They received a little over 15% of the vote, with 188 votes cast in their favour. The band are notable for having former Supernova finalist MNTHA amongst their ranks. “Escape” is certainly a different sound to what we’d usually see at Eurovision — but y’all seem to like it anyway!

Next in the results is Franco Franco with “Up”. They currently are on top of the Wiwi Jury too, so it’s looking good for the newcomers. They weren’t too far behind Crime Sea, receiving 176 votes or 14% of the total.

Poll Results: Who should qualify from the first heat of Supernova 2017?

1. Katrina Cirule — “Blood Runs Quicker”: 20.18% (250 votes)
2. Crime Sea — “Escape”: 15.17% (188 votes)
3. Franco Franco — “Up”: 14.21% (176 votes)
4. Edgars Kreilis — “We Are Angels”: 10.17% (126 votes)
5. Anna Zankovska — “Rage Love”: 9.6% (119 votes)
6. Linda Leen — “Who Is In Charge”: 9.2% (114 votes)
7. Rock’n’Berries — “Feel the Love”: 5.73% (71 votes)
8. Miks Dukurs — “Spiritual Priest”: 5.49% (68 votes)
9. Lauris Valters — “Magic Years”: 4.6% (57 votes)
10. First Question — “Naked”: 4.12% (51 votes)
11. Pikaso — “U (Can Keep Your Cools)”: 1.53% (19 votes)

Total Votes Cast: 1,239

Supernova kicks off tonight at 20.25 CET and can be streamed via the LTV website. As always, two songs will qualify from the public vote/streaming results, before the jury saves two more songs. Also: yes, he’s back — the Riga Beaver is set to appear!

What do you think of Katrina Cirule’s song? Who are you looking forward to in tonight’s show? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below, and make sure to check back for all the results later this evening.

I bet this prediction is not going to come true in real life.

Miks Dukurs, Franco Franco, Lauris Valters and Crime Sea would be proposed semi-finalists from this semi.

I think her song is ok, has potential. But I’m not sure about her voice… Good luck though…

On youtube there are snippets of first heat songs – I am not impressed, most of them have horrible performances, e.g. vocals ????

It’s annoying as it seems like I can listen to literally any other song apart from “Blood runs quicker”. Supernova people should sort it out asap, as Katrina is missing quite a bit of votes as personally I have to listen to “Blood runs quicker” on YouTube instead of Spotify and I bet I’m not the only one.

Haha, that voting result order is like a perfect copy of my top of the first semi final! Katrina, Crime Sea and Franco Franco are my favorites of the whole competition (with UP and My Radiant You from the other semi).

She should indeed, her song is brilliant and well-written. SF1 of Supernova is horrible, by the way… SF2 is full of great songs.

Katrina is overrated, I hope Miks and Anna qualify.

@MiuMiu Katrina Cirule or Blood Runs Quicker may be blocked in your country. I assume she is not blocked in Latvia where the majority of the streams should be coming from.

I can’t seem to see Katrinas song “Blood runs quicker” on Spotify. So how it’s possible? Aren’t Spotify streams are counted towards the total amount of points each artist can get? Help, anyone?

Anna Zankovska was ahead of Edgars Kreilis in the poll for a while, so I hope she will qualify. I can see Rage Love being loved by the jury, or absolutely hated by the jury, no in between. I do think, however, Anna will do well in the televote. The only issue is the Spotify streams. Linda and Pikaso’s streams seem slightly inflated, so I hope that LTV will resolve that issue and allow Anna to pass through.

As we’ve seen so many times before, we tend to get excited about the studio version of a song and then it completely flops during live performances. However, I think this ( Katrina Cirule — “Blood Runs Quicker”) is a dark horse in the competition. As long as she can pull it off live just as she does in the video, this might be headed to The Ukraine.
