She is one of Croatia’s most successful and popular artists. At Eurovision 2006, she finished 12th with the Dalmatian inspired “Moja Stikla”. And over a decade later, Severina remains the Balkan Queen.

After a massive 2016, releasing the ethno club bangers “Sekunde” and “Silikoni”, Severina is keeping the new music coming for 2017.

On Wednesday she dropped the video for “Kao” (or “Like”). The clip has already amassed well over one million YouTube views.

Scroll down for audio.

“Kao” marks a different pace to her recent hits, in that it’s a power ballad.

Sung entirely in Croatian, the brilliant track makes you feel empowered and strong — even if you don’t speak the lingo.

In the music video, we see a stripped back Severina. She gives us a simple performance in a cosy looking recording studio.

It’s a raw production. Severina conveys her true emotions through her body language and facial expressions. Every movement tells a story.

The diva is also accompanied by a mini orchestra with musicians such as guitarists, violinists and a pianist.

The song is written by Miloš Roganovic and Filip Miletic, who wrote previous Severina hits such as “Uno Momento” and “Sekunde”.

“Kao” is the first single to be taken from Severina’s highly anticipated 13th album.

Croatia at Eurovision

Severina’s Eurovision 2006 stint brought an end to a reasonably successful period for Croatia in the contest. Since their 1993 debut, they had only missed out on the top 15 three times.

However, they failed to qualify for the final in 2007 and again for four consecutive years between 2010 and 2013.

Due to the string of bad results, along with dwindling budgets, the country sat out the 2014 and 2015 editions of the contest.

They returned with a bang in 2016, with Nina Kraljic taking them to their first final since 2009. Unfortunately her entry stalled in the final, finishing 23rd out of 26.

As of now, Croatia has yet to confirm its act for Kyiv. Although the rumour mill has thrown up Jacques Houdek, a former The Voice Croatia coach.

I’m truly enjoying the design and layout of your blog. It’s a very easy on the eyes which makes it much more enjoyable for me to come here and visit more often. Did you hire out a designer to create your theme? Great work!
