mariette melodifestivalenklubben fan poll

Torch-lit runways, dancers suspended by bungee cords, androgynous rockers in zebra-stripe body suits — tonight’s dress rehearsal of Melodifestivalen Semi-Final 2 was a sight to behold! And, following the fiesta in Malmö, Sweden’s Melodifestivalklubben ran their highly anticipated audience exit poll, where they ask the departing fans which act they liked the most.

This week the audience has two clear favourites to win the semi-final. Mariette topped the poll with 30.2% of all votes votes, while turtle-neck-loving Benjamin Ingrosso finished second with 29.7% of the votes.

This year Mariette is mixing up her game musically. She’s shifted away from the dramatic and mystical style of “Don’t Stop Believing” — which took her to third place back in 2015 — and towards the upbeat and danceable with “A Million Years”.

The change is paying off: She also leads our poll of who should win the second semi-final.

Melfest debutant Benjamin Ingrosso has been winning fans all week — and his performance of “Good Lovin'” is going to win him even more.

The Let’s Dance winner starts his show behind tin foil, and when he emerges he’s definitely hot and appears to have been marinating in fabulous.

Earlier this week he told wiwibloggs that his song was born of heartache. He said: “Me and my ex-girlfriend decided to take a break after three years together. I was sad and wrote down all my emotions in this song.”

If the audience poll actually decided the results, Lisa Ajax and Dismissed would live to see another day at Andra Chansen. Last year Lisa went direct to the final with “My Heart Wants Me Dead” but this time she might have one more challenge before the big final. Thankfully, she don’t give a

Dismissed’s gender-bending looks and stadium rock sound were enough to impress at least 7.6% of the people who voted in the exit poll.

This means two-time Eurovision singer Roger Pontare and Melodifestivalen debutants Etzia and Allyawan seem poised to go home — assuming that the audience members polled reflect the Swedish public’s sentiments.

Melodifestivalklubben emphasize that the audience in the dress rehearsals are mainly families. The rehearsal includes a fake rehearsal of the winners reprising their songs on stage in front of the audience. This week Allyawan and Lisa Ajax had the chance to perform their songs twice, as they were randomly selected as the winners during the rehearsal. This might have affected the result as well.

Melodifestivalklubben’s audience poll is generally considered to be a good indicator of how songs will place in the Melodifestivalen live shows. Last week the audience liked Nano the most, with Boris René finishing second — just four votes ahead of Ace Wilder. De Vet Du finished fourth — and all four acts did survive the show.

Audience poll results: Deltävling 2, Malmö

1. Mariette – “A Million Years” 30.2 % (210 votes)
2. Benjamin Ingrosso – “Good Lovin'” 29.7 % (206 votes)
3. Lisa Ajax – “I Don’t Give A” 21.2 % (147 votes)
4. Dismissed – “Hearts Align” 7.6 % (53 votes)
5. Roger Pontare – “Himmel och hav” 5.3% (37 votes)
6. Etzia – “Up” 4.3% (30 votes)
7. Allyawan – “Vart har du vart” 1.7% (12 votes)

@ Milla I believe that too. Though, Mariette seems a wonderful person indeed and the song is really good. (personally I prefer “Don’t stop believing”).

It doesn’t really matter which of the 3 finalist get to andra chansen. (Lisa, Benjamin, Mariette) DeVetDu and Boris stand no chanche against these songs during andra chansen i’m afraid.

I’m almost certain Mariette will make it to the final but I have a feeling she won’t win Melodifestvalen. I think she’s very lovely though and the song is very good. I also want to hear the full version.

Alex, that is fair enough. I wasn’t necessarily talking about this new song, though, but Mariette herself – who is undeniably a wonderful person sent from the heavens! 🙂

I too prefer “Don’t Stop Believing”, at least for the moment, but the new one is great too. I predict “direkt till final”!

As the votes prove, the two places of the final are nearly certain, with Lisa securing a spot to Andra Chansen. Not writing her completely off of the final, but I think Mariette and Benjamin have the edge. As for the last place for andra chansen, as the votes again prove, it’s not certain and it’s more or less up for grab. I think it’s between Dismissed and Roger Pontare, we’ll have to see who will prevail. I’d like to see Roger to Andra Chansen, but Sweden has proven that they choose based on what they like and are not… Read more »

@Jonas I don’t love Mariette. It’s generic imo compared to her 2015 entry which was great. For me, Lisa Ajax is the best, I know it’s a bit generic as well but I just really enjoy it. Mariette is talented and all but her song is only a finalist and not a winner. Benjamin is good but I think:
DTF – Lisa and Benjamin OR mariette
AC – Benjamin OR Mariette and dismissed

Who doesn’t love Mariette?

The answer : nobody!

What I’d like to see:
Mariette and Dismissed – DTF.
Roger Pontare and Lisa Ajax – AC.

What we’ll probably see:
Mariette and Benjamin Ingrosso – DTF.
Lisa Ajax and Roger Pontare – AC.

Don’t really like Benjamin, his song is nothing special. Etzia is badly trying to mix Wiktoria with Stella from Norway and Kizunguzungu. Allyawan is okay but I don’t think the Swedish fans see much in him.

I love etzia’s voice…..hope to see her in andra chansen……her performance/movements in the clip is a bit too wooden though
