She’s a Polish singer-songwriter who rose to fame as part of the music group MASHMISH, who were signed with Universal.
But now Carmell is standing on her own two feet as she competes at Krajowe Eliminacje 2017 — Poland’s national selection for Eurovision.
And she isn’t just standing — she’s standing tall. Her atmospheric entry “Faces” creates a delightful and enchanting atmosphere that moves from light and airy to strong and powerful. The production is soothing but has drive. Best of all, it showcases her soothing voice which is sweeter than caramel on an ice cream sundae. Delish.
Lyrically, the song takes on many issues including lust, perseverance and the countless faces we all wear — some of which we regret afterwards.
As she sings: “Waking up in the morning light/ Fight mode on in my heart/ Why do we break each other’s hearts/ I scream from the top of my lungs.”

‘Faces’ is definitely a taste of music that you can expect from her upcoming solo material! Often compared to Adele and Lana Del Rey, Carmell likes to convey subtle emotions and vocal perfection. ‘Faces’ wasn’t written with Eurovision in mind. However, when TVP opened the call for songs, she felt a call for submitting.
Carmell’s other songs have featured in popular Polish TV series such as “Agata’s Law” and “Na dobre in a zle”.

Her voice is beautiful and natural. I like it. The song is a bit sleepy though – musically this is very “safe.”

Probably the lyrics sound beautiful/better in Polish but in English the lyrics paint a very metaphorical and euphemistic landscape and is difficult for a non-native English speaker to connect to.I consider myself to be O.k. in the English language but I really can’t get a stark image of the essence of the song based on these lyrics.
P.S. I’m listening to the song having not slept for 24 hrs so maybe that could explain my lack of grasping ability.

Just like Kasia’s song I can’t say that I dislike it, I most definitely wouldn’t mind listening to it when it pops up on the radio. Solid vocals, pleasant voice. But still, the song just not memorable enough and too unexciting to compete in Eurovision.

Our jury rated this as third best sony. Second is Mo?. First is Martin Fitch (Marcin Mro?i?ski) with Fight for us. So I can’t wait for premiere of his song.
