The wait is nearly over: On March 3, the Netherlands’ O’G3NE will officially release their Eurovision entry!

O’G3NE will unveil their song during a press conference in Amsterdam, set for 11:00 CET. AVROTROS will repeat their reveal method from last year, when Douwe Bob presented his song “Slow Down” live at the event (which was also streamed on Periscope).

Earlier this month, the all-girl three-piece revealed that they had narrowed their list of potential Eurovision songs down to three finalists before finally making a decision.

Little is known about their Eurovision song beyond the composers, who happen to be their dad Rick Vol and Shelley’s boyfriend Rory de Kievit. They previously stated that, although people know them as ballad singers, their song could come from any genre. They like to keep us guessing…

O’G3NE emerged as early favourites among fans and followers of the contest. They won our first “Which act are you most excited for?” poll back in December with 31.89% of the vote.

Before that, Graham Norton told Dutch newspaper Telegraaf that he was excited about the Dutch choice. He said:

“In the ten years that I’ve been doing Eurovision, I haven’t seen that on the stage — a female, close-harmony group. I mean, those girls are great! The great thing about Eurovision is that you can never second-guess it. I think right now, those girls have got a lot of traction … So right now they’re very hot, but by the time March comes around, who knows. There could be a new Conchita. Every Eurovision, a story captures people’s imagination.”

The trio have often said that they are competing to actually win the contest and bring Eurovision back to the country for the first time since 1980.

“We would really want to get the title to The Netherlands. To make this happen we should win from everyone in the competition, so it does not matter who we will face on our road to it. Our focus is on our own strength and we are really busy to find a perfect team around us.”

What are you expecting O’G3NE’s song to be like? Tell us in the comments below!

I don’t know, I’ve never had a good feeling about this. But I hope they can prove me wrong, of course. I wouldn’t bet on The Netherlands, though.
And I still find it funny how they went for a song by their father and one sister’s boyfriend, they probably didn’t dare choosing another one.

Marc & Dutchie:
Yeah, the so-called-euro-fans are complaining. They’re complaining about everything. They are not representative for everyone.

I am tired of all those complains and prejudgments , even before we’ve heard the song. What a waste of time!

@ Marc : ”have gone with these girls. (We all knew about their father).”

What about their father? If you don’t tell everything, it will look like a teaser.

”Personally I don’t mind them, and I certainly don’t think that ‘we deserve better than to be represented by them”

Why would you say something like this. Everybody thinks / or should think that his / hers country deserves the best. I guess this is the secret of Eastern countries, they are proud as hell, and united, and they have such attitude like … make a difference or die.

Their songs are the problem: Cheesy and dated. Overall boring.

Some countries need to realize Eurovision is not about the voice. Song and show is what matter.

@Marc: Complaining about what? Their inheritance? (You still haven’t explained what the problem is.)
Family groups in music go wayyy back in time; I don’t see that as a bad thing. Family members often have great musicality together, and these women can sing clear harmonies for breakfast! Why the criticism?

@Dutchie

I said that because Dutch music is far better than these girls. And after some amazing entries, coming with this.. just no.
I still don’t understand how the same people who picked Douwe or Common Linnets have gone with these girls. (We all knew about their father).
I’m glad Dutch forums are complaining about it 🙂

I’m not bashing, but read the comments on the Dutch forums, most of them are negative. That’s also typically Dutch, but there doesn’t seem to be much faith in these girls. Personally I don’t mind them, and I certainly don’t think that ‘we deserve better than to be represented by them’, to paraphrase Marc below.

The best idea would be to reveal the song together with staging, because EBU wants staging script very early anyway, so the artists already know what they will do on stage, but they think is good idea to keep secret until May.
If O’G3NE want to make an impression, they should reveal song+staging together.
Artists know all about their staging anyway, because EBU+host need that information as soon as possible, so the host could do the preparations.

Lee Adams: App Store says “no.” 🙁 There’s no update available, and no posting with bee comment is allowed without a Facebook login. I can still post on the blog as normal though.

Oh come on, people!
Dutchie, I don’t know which fandom you’re talking about. These girls are great! Spectacular voices and a great fanbase in The Netherlands.

Please stop bashing. We even don’t know the song yet!
I bet it will be great!

Well, I have a feeling that it will end up as a non-qualification for Netherlands.

I like the picture above with them in white dresses. They look like ancient goddesses.
Don’t know anything about their father, he seems in charge, and I’ve heard that their mother is ill. Guess he is supposed to be with his wife right now, but maybe he is too busy to boss around his son in law Kievit.

I don’t know which rumors you’ve heard about the song being good, all I read in the Dutch online fandom is how awful O’G3NE are and specifically their father 😉

Here’s my first attempt at a comment through using the new app. Testing…
N.B. The “bee comment” feature needs some explanation to me; at the moment it doesn’t do anything without a Facebook login. I’m not even sure what it’s meant to do?

There’s a lot of hype, their vocals are great but I have a bad feeling about this. They’ve hardly had any success in the Netherlands and most of their songs are badly produced teenpop pieces. I feel like this is going to be disappointing.

I hope I’m wrong cause they have potential.

Dutch people don’t deserve to be represented by these girls and his father.
Bad vives about this entry.
