It’s hard to believe, but on Saturday we will have heard all the songs competing in Melodifestivalen 2017. Where does the time go? Semi-final 4 takes place at Skellefteå Kraft Arena in Skellefteå, which is more than half way up Sweden’s eastern coast. (You’re welcome).

Two out of seven acts will go straight to the final, where they’ll join the likes of Nano, Ace Wilder and Robin Bengtsson. Two will proceed to the Andra Chansen round and three will be sent home.

We’ve now had a chance to hear 60-second snippets of each song and our bloggers have already given their short reviews based on these samples. Now it’s your turn. Who do you think will qualify for the grand final? Who will get a second chance and who will pack their bags for good?

The poll results will be announced on 25 February, just before the show starts.

After listening to the whole song of “Statements” I’m pretty sure this will either score amazingly high or be a bomb. I hope for the best. The instrumentation is off the wall amazing, better than Euphoria’s instrumentation for sure!

Loreen, Loreen and Loreen. She really has a momentum! On SVT’s site she has over 60% of the voting for favourite, more than any other act of the year. Everyone predicts a landslide victory, bigger than her last victory or Måns victory.
Could it be?…

@Robyn Gallagher – Loreen’s haunting, mumbly voice is perfect for this song, just any newcomer couldn’t pull this off. It’s not the fact that she’s Loreen and ”omg Euphoria”, but the fact that her voice sends shivers down my spine, and makes this song stand out so much more than if just any random generic pop singer would sing this. She puts so much emotion into her vocals, and that’s what makes me love it.

I’m loving Jon Henrik Fjällgren feat. Aninia and Alice. I’m a little confused with Loreen’s song, I’m waiting for Saturday.

A sculpture of Virgin Mary started to cry when she heard the snippet of ”Statements”. She has real tears in her eyes. I must send an e-mail to Vatican to make them acknowledge that Loreen is a Saint.

Loreen must win Melodifestivalen! I have no words to describe how great she is! When I listened to the 1-minute snippet for the first time (and now several times) my stomach started to ache and I shaked and got goosebumps all over! This is simply a song and performance to make you FEEL. If it was somebody else doing this instead of Loreen or if she was not known to a large crowd she would probobly get her breakthrough and become a favourite anyway. But it’s very hard to think like that because Loreen is Loreen. “Statements” is a song… Read more »

This poll result was sooooo unexpected! 🙂

I really believe that many people are voting for a singer and not for a song. Sure, Statements sounds promising, but so do Wiktoria’s song and Jon Henrik’s song. The difference in the votes wouldn’t be THIS big if it wasn’t Loreen.

The only good thing about Statements is that Sweden is reusing those flags from Love Love Peace Peace. This is so eco-friendly.

Honestly I think it is just not the right thing to have Loreen back. I mean – just watch the interval act of 2013 again – She is the queen (or rather goddess) of Eurovision. Euphoria is just kind of a legend and I am not sure if this song (or any) can top this. So acutally I don’t think this song is bad, but a comeback to the Eurovision stage… well… (It is hard to explain it :S ) After this Interval act the German commentator said ‘it is hard for her to reach class and quality of Euphoria.’… Read more »

So this is where all the good songs were hiding! xD Loreen, Axel, and Les Gordons are the best in this selection. But Loreen… Possibly the best song in ALL of the national finals so far, and this is coming from someone who doesn’t like Loreen! That said, I absolutely adore the new darkly dystopian drama that bleeds from some of her newer songs (I’m In It With You, etc.). This one is a gorgeous continuation from that- it almost doesn’t matter if the rest of the song is a banger or not; all “Statements” has to do is maintain… Read more »

Direkt till final: Loreen (hype and rep) and Jon-Henrik/Aninia (rep and unique)

Andra chansen: Axel and Wiktoria (decent enough, but no my favs)

I’m afraid Alice will meet the same fate as Jasmine, knowing how Swedes vote.
The other two acts just aren’t good enough.

I don’t hate nor love Loreen. I just couldn’t understand any other word besides “Euphoria” in 2012 and I think I won’t be able to understand any other word besides “Statements” this year. She has a nice voice, but for some reason the pronunciation of words isn’t all there.

So far, Wiktoria is winning me over. If the full song will convince me, as a country music lover, I’ll be rooting for her. I seriously hope she has a real shot with this and will not be dumped to the second chance round. Go country!

Not at all do disappointed in Loreen, either. So far, so good. I am have never been a fan boy, all I care for is songs that speak to me. And IF she’s got the best song, she should win Melodifestivalen again. So far, I’m still rooting for Ace and most likely Wiktoria.

It’s such a shame Sweden has so many good songs in Melfest, especially in this semi. I absolutely love 4 of the songs already (Loreen, Wiktoria, Alice, Jon Henrik).
I wish acts which failed to win Melfest could somehow still go to Eurovision for another country so their songs get the attention they deserve.

Though I’m not feeling loreen now but maybe after the live performance I’ll have her.#eestireferences

Yep folks, there’s lots of haters and lovers of Loreen out there judging by comments forum. She’s pushing all the right buttons so far with this, visually, vocally, politically and that’s just from a 1 min clip and a 30 sec rehearsal clip! Ya just know this is building to something epic, artistic and emotional! The girl is gonna do it all over again! Can’t wait to see this battle it out with Italy for the crown IF Sweden pick her

Loreen, Loreen, Loreen! I love this MORE than Euphoria, and Euphoria is my favorite Eurovision song ever.

I agree with William, if she wins Melfest, she’s winning Eurovision.
