With Eurovision 2017 now less than three months away, the show’s producers have now confirmed the three hosts of the show. Guiding viewers through the three shows will be a trio of men: Oleksandr Skichko, Volodymyr Ostapchuk, and Timur Miroshnychenko.

This marks the first time in Eurovision history that three men have hosted the show. This follows the similarly groundbreaking trio in 2015, when Austria’s hosts were three women. And while the three men might not quite be a case of celebrating diversity, we’re sure the three will each bring something different to the show.

Oleksandr Skichko and Volodymyr Ostapchuk will be the main hosts of the show, while Timur Miroshnychenko will be the Green Room host. The last time Eurovision used a dedicated Green Room host was also in 2015, when Conchita Wurst was there amongst the excited artists.

Oleksandr Skichko

Oleksandr is a well known television presenter in Ukraine, and has featured on such shows as Wake Up, Star Way and Sing Like A Star. He got his start on Ukraine’s Got Talent where he made an impact with his parody act.

Volodymyr Ostapchuk

Volodymyr is an experienced live television host, and has been involved with Morning with Ukraine, as well as presenting Style Icon and the intriguingly titled Shopping Goddess. He also works as a voice artist, and played the part of Hans for the Ukrainian dub of Frozen.

Timur Miroshnychenko

Timur may be very familiar to Eurovision fans. As well as hosting the Ukraine national selection many times, he has also presented Ukraine’s two hostings of Junior Eurovision. Most recently Timur co-hosted the semi-final allocation draw. His quick humour led fans to insist that he be part of Eurovision 2017. Timur was also top of our wishlist for Eurovision 2017 hosts.

Selecting hosts for Eurovision isn’t an easy job. The successful candidates must have excellent English — and at least one must also have good French. They also need experience hosting major live television events. And with the demands of the new voting system, they need to be able to keep their cool and deliver the dramatic and tense results.

What do you think of the Eurovision 2017 presenters? Is there anyone else you would have liked to have seen? Share your thoughts below!

@Abel

Verka Serduchka is a very shy man. Is not about his english,is about that he is very shy.And the green room is very hard because is about spontaneity. This is Timur’s job because he is the best of them, and maybe that means we will see more green room which is great.
Host don’t have to sing and dance, what the hell, they must bring information…even gossip.

As an Eastern European, I can say that in the public system, children start to study foreign languages, since kindergarten.

“There are lots of people in Europe speaking French and English and being able to sing and dance and do comedy.”

If you’re talking about Western Europe, you’re right, if you’re talking about Eastern Europe, that’s not how it works, most people there can barely speak English.

Désolée, but what are you talking about? Most people in Eastern Europe only know how to speak Russian and their mother tongue.

Someone somewhere mentioned about the fans being diva-loving-drama-queens, and here we are, discussing that this ain’t “celebrating diversity”.

You do know that you sound pathetic, right? LOL

And “celebrate diversity” should be about the music, the songs in general. Like, so many countries offering their culture on display. Oh, wait, that’s Sweden multiplied by 20. Or more this year? Hahahah

Now, shut up and play Margaret from last year’s Poland selection on high volume. Because you are the queeeeeeeeeeeeeenz. Hahah

Nobody would say a word about the diversity thing if their slogan wouldn’t be basically “CELEBRATE DIVERSITY”, in 2015 even if they had 3 woman they were still more diverse – having different roots (skin color) than these three white men. Having them hosting the show isn’t a problem but making your whole show about being diverse and then hiring them – is.

I wished Verka Serduchka would host. Her English is awful but they could pop up with sth creative (like a eurovision star coming to the stage ‘as guest’ to give an important info, on the voting etc). Rest would be verka’s show. And it would cut the crap for long unnecessary monologues…

Oh, well.

In 2015 no one complained because the slogan wasn’t celebrate diversity, that’s why no one complained. The slogan isn’t just words, it’s the theme of the show and most choose to integrate it somehow in the show. Now since most of the songs are the same they could have worked out around the hosts. Otherwise the slogan is already a flop. Why mention Petra mede? It’s not Sweden. But I have to agree she was the best host. It’s her thing to be mean, she’s called “The Queen of Mean” over here. And I liked there was actually a host… Read more »

I don t like when Petra Mede was host of Eurovision , for me she try so hard to be funny. Host from 1985 from Sweden Lill LIndfors was funny and she didn t try to be funny like Petra.
For me best 5 host of Eurovision from 1956 to 2016
1. Lill Lindfors from 1985
2. Viktor Lazlo from 1987
3. Désirée Nosbusch from 1984
4. Doireann Ní Bhriain from 1981
5. Anke Engelke one of host from 2011 and for me from 1987 best host

I always wanted to see how would the show look if there would be just male hosts. Closest to that was in 2014, the girl was kind sided, but oh, well…

Thanks Ukraine for this, now get back to work.

I never liked Petra Mede. Dunno why she was so popular with fans. I found her a bit too “arrogant” / overpowering. And those silly “gay jokes”, very stereptypical and cliched…..didn’t show the fan base as it actually is. Having said that, she was MUCH better in 2016! And had a more “friendly way” I think.

Are you sure, Robyn? “Btw, Petra Mede is a one-in-a-million. She can speak fluent French and English (and Swedish), she can sing, dance, do comedy and had prior experience hosting Melfest.”
There are lots of people in Europe speaking French and English and being able to sing and dance and do comedy. Anke Engelke from Germany, for example. And plenty of others.

I prefer male / female host couples. Usually they have a kind of nice ying / yang combination….natural chemistry, flow, harmony…I think. maybe that’s why it was the “route” for many years.

But of course, they can be good presenters too!

I am glad Verka is not there 🙂

@KennyESC, if you saw the semi final allocation draw. You wouldn’t want Ruslana hosting. Her English isn’t good and at the draw she didn’t look like she had a clue of what she was doing or where she was, which made the draw difficult to watch.

Abel

@ Robyn Gallagher : Btw, Petra Mede is a one-in-a-million. She can speak fluent French and English (and Swedish), she can sing, dance, do comedy and had prior experience hosting Melfest. There aren’t many people like that in the world, let alone Europe.

You haven’t met many people from Eastern Europe, right? If you tell them about 2 foreign languages + the native one, they will tell you 2 more. I’m sure Ukraine has no problem with languages, probably those men are local stars, and everybody had to be pleased.

@fikri – ”can we have them host the show shirtless?” Doubt it, but I wouldn’t exclude the possibility of one of them being shirtless for a sketch or two like some do (e.i. Mans, David).

PS. What is happening in Ukraine? After years and years of only gorgeous Ukrainian women coming from there, now we have male group as representatives and three male hosts! Did not expect that.

I’m happy Timur is hosting, he deserves it after so many years of dedication to Ukraine in ESC, but I’d rather he be the main host and host it with a female (I was thinking Zlata), and then the green room host could’ve been whoever. I didn’t like the three female hosts in 2015, and I don’t like the three male hosts now. They’re theme is literally “Celebrate Diversity” lmao.

Petra Mede is a tough act to follow. She was the only Eurovision host with an actual sense of humor in a very long time.
As far as the all-female ensemble from Austria is concerned, it can only get better with the Ukrainian all-male ensemble. The Austrian women set the bar so low that even the trio from Azerbaijan in 2012 seemed somewhat more competent in comparison.

Yes exactly, who the hell started that stupid trend of having 3 presenters? Norway in 2010? This is too much and doesn’t really bring anything to the show.

I like what Sweden did in 2013, when they had only one host. That’s more than enough.
