Belarus: NAVIBAND release their third album “Illuminatsiya” and announce Belarusian promo tour

Back in January, they became one of the first confirmed acts for Eurovision 2017. And NAVIBAND certainly haven’t been standing still in the interim. In fact, the Belarusian hopefuls are busy promoting their third studio album Illuminatsiya.

Illuminatsiya was officially released on January 20, the same date as the Belarusian national selection. So, that meant the duo had more to celebrate than just the “Historyja majho zyccia” win.

The LP — Navi’s third after Lovi and Soncam sahretyja — contains eight tracks.

It starts off very dark and mysterious with “Krasochnym” and “Zima”. Then, the mood completely changes as “Historyja majho zyccia” begins to play.

The few next tunes, “Khutkimi dumkami” and “Ne pakidaj” have a very folky and acoustic vibe. After the softness of “Ne pakidaj”“Bjazi” offers up yet more mystery.

“Kolybelnaya” — the penultimate song — is also a ballad and features singer Yevgeniy Grishkovets. It was previously released as a single.

The lovely mid-tempo “Stop-Kadr” brings things to a conclusion.

With this album, NAVIBAND give us a wide variety of songs and genres. They show once again that they’re versatile artists who can surprise, and surprise beautifully. Just like when they surprised Jamala with a Belarusian rendition of “1944” at the Ukrainian national selection.

In addition to the album, the group performed in Minsk’s Re:Public club on February 14th. The hour long concert was live streamed on their official YouTube channel and features songs both old and new.

Before heading to Kyiv and competing in the second semi-final on Thursday May 11, the duo will also tour their native country.

The tour covers nearly every major city in Belarus, including Hrodno (March 8), Baranovichi (March 12), Homel (March 17), Novopolotsk (March 18) and Minsk (April 22). On top of all that, NAVIBAND are scheduled to travel to Amsterdam’s Eurovision in Concert in April.
