The eight acts competing at the Andra Chansen round of Melodifestivalen 2017 had their dress rehearsal in front of a live audience ahead of tomorrow’s live show. Just like in the past four weeks, Swedish fanclub Melodifestivalenklubben asked the departing audience — consisting of children, teenagers and adults — which act was their favourite tonight. After counting 562 votes, Loreen topped the poll with her song “Statements”.
While Eurovision 2012 winner Loreen failed to qualify to the final from the fourth semi-final last week, she is in a good position to get there through Andra Chansen. Out of all eight songs, 117 people named “Statements” as their favourite tonight.

At Andra Chansen, Loreen will compete against YouTube star and Melodifestivalen debutant Anton Hagman, who got 49 votes in the audience poll.

Comedy group De Vet Du got the second most votes, with 109 in total. Their performance has over 1.4 million views on YouTube and the song has over 3.6 million streams on Spotify — more than any other Melodifestivalen 2017 song. They will compete against another boyband, FO&O, in the first duel of Andra Chansen. Felix, Oscar and Omar got 65 votes in today’s poll.

Former footballer Boris René qualified to the final through Andra Chansen last year and is now trying to do the same with “Her Kiss”. Today’s audience liked his retro sound and gave him 79 votes. His competitor Dismissed — the pop rock group with androgynous looks — got the fewest votes of all the eight acts. They got 41 votes.

The second duel got the least votes in total. Swedish Idol winner Lisa Ajax won the duel with a small margin ahead of fellow Idol alum Axel Schylström. Lisa got 54 votes, while Axel counted 48 votes.

This season the audience poll has predicted six out of eight finalists correctly. Last week Wiktoria topped the poll with Jon Henrik Fjällgren feat. Aninia finishing second. Both qualified to the final.

Audience members were only asked to name their overall favourite from the whole evening. They were not able to give their favourite for each of the four duels.

Audience poll results: Andra Chansen, Linköping

  1. De Vet Du with “Road Trip” 19.4% (109 votes)
  2. FO&O with “Gotta Thing About You” 11.6% (65 votes)

Thanks Kris.
I totally agree. It’s nice to see a young person be so polite in the 21st Century for a change.
I wish him all the best, and I hope he has a successful career.

More of Anton Hagman’s video diary here: https://youtu.be/v0G__D7EFDI

It’s great to see some of the contestants have a great time away from the stage. Boris Rene and one of the FO&O band appear. What was interesting was when Anton was in a (small) green room, listen carefully and you can hear Loreen in rehearsal echoing down the corridors! Those vocals from Loreen are incredible.

Also you get to see Anton’s adoring fans at the gate. All teenage girls it looks like. 😀

Thanks for replying Bob.
I was wondering if duels meant you could vote only for one of them.

I’ll be so happy if De Vet Du fail. They are hot but their song is utter trash.

Kris:
1.If somebody uses App votes to vote for Lisa can they still vote for Axel using the app?
– Yes. You can vote 5 times for each performance with the app, including both performances in duels.
2.If somebody votes for De Vet Du in Duel 1 using app can they vote again for their favourite in other duels?
– Yes!

The fact that Loreen leads in a poll dominated by families should indicate she has wind in her sail, that people now are ready for her. In her first heat back in 2012 she lost audience poll in favour of Sean Banan. The fact that she leads the same poll should indicate. Focus on the positive guys, don’t start looking for negative.

And Kris, with the app you can vote for all your favourites at once instead of voting one and one like the juries. That’s why the race is much tighter when the tele-votes are announced.

Also guys 41 votes isn’t 8.7% as you have mentioned for dismissed…..its more like 7.1%

Can somebody explain how voting in Andra chansen (pronounced khwancen) works?
1.If somebody uses App votes to vote for Lisa can they still vote for Axel using the app?
2.If somebody votes for De Vet Du in Duel 1 using app can they vote again for their favourite in other duels?

I really don’t think that Statements is going to crossover to the mass audience. I really hope Loreen makes it through to the final but I have a feeling the song will crash in the final and don’t expect the juries to appreciate it as much as the Euro fans.

@ Denis – yeah, I’m talking about the official chart that includes streams and sales: http://www.sverigetopplistan.se/

Loreen has been flopping on Spotify, so I’m not surprised she debuted that low. Wiktoria is the ONLY Melfest act in the top 10, sitting at #7.

@Ern: She was up against 2 young guns in Jon Henrik and Wiktoria. And how often does a former ESC participant have it easy the 2nd time around, even if only 5 years removed from that appearance (and winning it)?

It will be a sad day for women of Melfest 2017 if neither of the two lone female artists competing at AC qualify for the grand finals. Keeping my fingers crossed for Duel 2 and Duel 4.

blondboybc, you should know that the Swedish chart as such isn’t a good indicator because it only focuses on actual records. In Sweden no one does that. The charts that matter are either Digilistan or Spotify lists because they focus solely on streaming which is the way to see how popular an act really is. And Loreen is pretty popular on both lists. Polegend’s dramatic joy is therefore shortlived You also should take any chart with a pinch of salt. Charts are for hits, Loreen focuses more on art songs. Those rarely work well on charts. Even on Spotify. I… Read more »

What’s more revealing about this “poll” is that De Vet Du is just as popular as Loreen, and that’s not a good thing for her given what she faces in the final. Polegend’s comment on her position in the Swedish chart does not bode well for the final…even 1st with the juries may not save her. Don’t hold your breath, Loreen fans…. 😉

I really think Loreen has the best song in the whole Melodifestivalen. I’m really surprised it had to go into the second chance round.

If they guessed 6/8 correctly I’d assume they’ll guess 3/4 duels correctly. But which one would be wrong?

You’ve got also got to remember that last year some of the entries that placed 4th in the semi-finals actually ended up winning their duel thus beating a 3rd placed entry. Anything can happen.

My dream finalists would be De Vet Du, Lisa, Dismissed and Loreen but I know for a fact one of them will miss out.

If last year’s A.C. audience poll (in head-to-head matchups) is an indication, then every winner of this year’s A.C. audience poll will qualify for the final. Panetoz, Boris, SaRaha and Samir/Viktor won last year’s A.C. audience polls.

That doesn’t mean that De Vet Du, Lisa, Boris and Loreen can afford to slip up in any way and still expect to qualify. We saw Emma crash and burn at UMK and ended up 3rd. The one who can least afford to slip up is Lisa, with Axel right on her heels in this poll.

Road Trip seems to be really popular with the Swedish audience. I found it cringey at the beginning, but now I can see that they just want to have fun. That song is this year’s Bada nakna, I guess. They’d better beat the FLO&P with their tragic song and performance. And, given that Statements debuted at #29 on the Swedish chart (that’s a dreaded position on the American charts, and it’s lower than her non-promoted single Paper Light from last year which peaked at #25) – much lower than most Melfest songs – I wouldn’t bet on Loreen too much.… Read more »
