artsvik fly with me armenia eurovision 2017

Two months ago she won Armenia’s Depi Evratesil — Armenia’s biggest national selection for Eurovision ever.

Since then Artsvik and her team have been working hard to find the perfect song for Kyiv — and on Thursday they announced that the search was over.

Following open submissions and shortlists, AMPTV can now reveal that Artsvik will sing “Fly With Me”. We’ll be able to hear it for the first time on March 18 at 18.30 CET!

Whilst AMPTV received over 300 submissions from around the world, they’ve gone with a safe pair of hands in the end. Its composers Lilith and Levon Navasardyan were behind both Aram MP3’s “Not Alone” and Iveta Mukuchyan’s “LoveWave“.

AMPTV say the song will feature “folk and traditional rhythms and elements not only from Armenia, but also from Europe, Africa and even Asia”. The song seems to speak to this year’s slogan of “Celebrate Diversity” — and sounds like it’s going to go a little Genealogy on us too with its strong sense of international flair.

Speaking about “Fly With Me”, Artsvik says:

“My song tells a story of a girl, who is the metaphorical symbol of love. She embodies the colors, the stories and the voices that make us who we are. “Fly with me” encourages everyone to come with me on this girl’s journey of championing the diverse and beautiful human nature. I think nowadays it is especially important to embrace our heritage and our traditions.

We, the people – our colors, our stories and our voices make up this world. We must never forget that this girl’s light and love is one for all of us.”

The song’s lyrics were written by Avet Barseghyan and David Tserunyan.

There’s no further clues as to what the style will be. Artsvik often played to her strengths with big ballads on Depi Evratesil, but the team behind her may update this to fit more traditional, modern sounds. We’re dreaming of Sia meets Whitney Houston!

All eyes will be on the official Eurovision channel for the reveal on March 18. Although this comes after the Head of Delegation Meeting on March 13, this is well within the rules. Armenia simply have to present the song — which is no doubt finished — at this meeting, with no obligation to reveal it publicly before then. They just want to keep us waiting, y’all!

A while ago, Artsvik posted on her Instagram that she was trying to find the perfect Eurovision song and asked for suggestions. And guess who suggested something folkish yet modern B-)

Ok seriously people here need to calm down. From what I’ve heard, Armenia had chosen a different song, but decided to pursue a last minute change. My take is that they heard that every country was presenting a ballad so they decided to go with something more uptempo and creative. Given the team behind this, I think this will sound more along the lines of LoveWave with creative instrumentation and kudos for choosing local songwriters again! Also, no, they are allowed to present their song later than the HoD meet as long as during that meeting they submit their song… Read more »

Just release the damn song! Is this thing even allowed?! Releasing later won’t help you much if the song is bad, dear ladies and gentleman 😉

Are they teasing us? Why will they release the song so late? The deadline is until March 13! I know that they must have the song ready and submit it, while they can officially release it whenever they want even after the meeting with EBU. But seriously? The song will be finished until Monday. Why not present it before the deadline and make us wait so long? Apart from that, it’s unfair to other countries who release their songs to public in this period of time before March 13th. It’s dissapointing. Nevertheless, I have to say this delay is promising.… Read more »

It’s not gonna be bad.Avet is a great lyricist and the song composers have a great music taste. So I’m proud that we are going to send a song composed by Armenians.
It’s could be similar like Jan,Jan (2009 entery) and it’s Avet who have wrote the lyrics.
Why so much dissappointment and hate tho nobody heard anything yet and it’s the same last year for Iveta (WTF song, creepy and noisy) then OMG she is Queen should’ve won.
Easygoing,tiger easy

@Guðrún Karlsdóttir

The EBU needs to address the late submission issue imo. I’d suggest fines.. This is indeed not fair. Anyways, I don’t expect anything good from her. They had better singer in Depi Evratesil.

Hooray! Finally came the news about Artsvik. I really like her voice. And she is a very nice person actually. But I don’t share the opinions of many people here. She is good. And Team of Armenia is a great team. They always send something special and unique. This is a very clever decision. They are serious about the choice of songs. Dear Artsvik, Greece with you! I know that you have something to say! ????????????

EBU has to do something with this seriously, the deadline is on 13th March and a country presents its entry on 18th, how comes that ?? Are they special or wat? That’s disrespectful.

I truly love amazing Wiwi. One thing I cannot stand though are some reactions that are posted to articles by fans. Eurovision is supposed to bring Europe together, learn about other traditions, languages and cultures and to just celebrate life, together! But often fans argue with each other and are disrespectful to other nations… We all have our favorite songs but please keep things respectful.. Wouldn’t it be a good idea to let us fans create profiles (maybe connected to Fb or whatsoever) like a community, and just let people write reactions who actually joined this community? I think everyone… Read more »

Armenian boy keep your lessons for you, it’s so pretentious to keep waiting people to listen her entry. Bad point for armenia.

@ Armenian boy – she actually butchered most of her performances. I get it that Armenia is small but Depi Evrasteli alone had 15 better candidates than this lady.

@ Cambell Grace – they gave it away. Azerbaijan might be sending the uptempo that was shortlisted for Bulgaria, which would suck because Diana would ruin it. Bulgaria’s selected song isn’t bad but it could’ve been better.

I agree with @Armenian boy. We can’t say something about song, until we don’t listen it.

I am a bit dissapointed that the song will realise on 18th March. It is too late, she won 2 months ago. Come on! I think it’s more difficult for her to choose a right song. By the way, you, people shouldn’t be so angry, and make the conclusions on “air”. You even didn’t see the music video, but you speak like blah blah blah… This is not good. But I am glad, that other Eurovision songs of this year ,which I listen = rubbish

I don’t wanna hate on her, but I’m not expecting too much here.
However, two details still made me look forward to this: 1) the songwriters and 2) the fact that it contains traditional elements.

And now it’s my time to tell the truth. First, all the Eurovision fans living in Western Europe are very angry. It’s a fact. Secondly, Artsvik has a very strong voice. If you see only one of her performances in the national final, then it’s your problems. She is a very professional artist and she knows what she’s doing. If you can read (which I doubt), then you can see who are the composers of this song. They are geniuses in their work. Thirdly, the Armenian delegation actually decides when they need to present the song to the public. And… Read more »

You guys are so negative lol. I expect her to have a good song tbh and I don’t understand why some countries tries to present their entries very last minute, it won’t affect results anyways, I mean good song is good & bad song is still bad, presenting it at later time won’t give ’em a better result at the end.

Guys, CALM DOWN! We have nine (9) days left until we get to hear the Armenian entry for Kiev! Also, AMPTV said that “Fly With Me” will feature folk-oriented instrumentation not only from Armenia, but elsewhere. By the way, I’m guessing that “Fly With Me” will be a mid-tempo song.

Why is every single post on here being SO DRAMATIC? The other day she posted on her official FB page that they were still working on recording the song so CLEARLY it hasn’t been finished. Respect the country’s decision, they don’t HAVE to release it by the deadline if they don’t want to. Some people need to get a grip smh.

@Polegend Godgarina

How do you know it isn’t the uptempo one?

No respectful for the eurovisions fans, no respectful for european people, they are presomptuous, they think that they are different than other contestant…. No way, well done, even if the song will be good armenia you lose my vote I really don’t like this behavior, well doneyou re not already entry and you are already loosing some votes. Congratulations.

I don’t think they gave Artsvik a ballad – her voice is too weak. They probably gave her something that works for her limited possibilities.

I still can’t at their rigged selection. Artsvik’s appalling cover of A Million Voices will haunt me forever. All that anticipation for an unexciting singer… let’s hope the song is good.

@DenizNL If you followed her journey in Depi Evratesil, you could kind of see coming from a mile away that she was going to sing a ballad, cus that’s all she sang during the competition. Regardless, I’m excited to see what she’s going to bring. I just hope it sounds current and it won’t blend together with Malta, Georgia, Slovenia etc.

Well, maybe it’ll leak like basically every other entry so far.
Whether it’s complying with the rules or not, it’s incredibly annoying how more and more countries are dragging their song presentation out as much as they can. Why not present it in your semi final May then?

Jeana

So basically some countries like Armenia and Bulgaria and maybe Azerbaijan, too simply battle for who is the last country to present the song? I find it very weird and unfair for the other countries. EBU should make a clear rule, all the songs have to be officially presented before the delegations gathering in mid March. Either way, I hope the wait will worth it and it won’t be another ballad! From Azerbaijan I definitely expect a ballad, they have a thing for ballads (Safura, Ell & Nikki, Sabina Babayeva, Farid Mammadov, Dilara Kazimova, Elnur Hüseynov). Samra was the only… Read more »
