She was the girl on fire at Melodifestivalen 2016, having come second in the televote. And this year, if the bookies are to be believed, Wiktoria is set to go one better.

With millions of listens on Spotify and YouTube, she could be forgiven for feeling the pressure. But the Melodifestivalen 2017 favourite tells us her main focus is having fun.

The “As I Lay Me Down” singer is cool as a cucumber, and feels like she’s in a much better place this year.

As she says: “I didn’t know anything in 2016, I was always asking what’s happening nowwhat’s happening now? Whereas this year I’ve matured more.”

And homegirl is putting all that knowledge into her stage performance. Her stagecraft has been honed by touring the length and breadth of Sweden with her Melfest 2016 song “Save Me” and her follow-up singles “Yesterday R.I.P” and “Unthink You”.

“I’ve been on tour for the past year, had a lot of fun, done so many things and now I know more.”

Hype has followed her every step of the way since the “As I Lay Me Down” snippet was revealed, so Wiktoria turns to her fans and family as a source of strength, especially in her hometown.

“I feel a lot of support across all of Sweden, but especially from my hometown and my family who will be at the final on Saturday night. The success of ‘As I Lay Me Down’ is overwhelming, it means a lot that people love the song, that it’s high on Spotify, and that’s where I focus rather than being the favourite.”

Wiktoria takes to the stage in spot #10 on Saturday night. Do you think “As I Lay Me Down” can win the competition? Could Wiktoria go on to win Eurovision for Sweden? Let us know in the comments below.

Se puede votar izq. o derecha pero la reforma que se plantea equivale a equiparar de facto a Ghandi con Bin Laden.

Wiktoria needs to stop smoking. She is out of breathe when she sings the song.

@Tazmanian DeMoon – True that. I, for instance, use You Tube as well. However, sometimes there are several performance videos and it can be hard counting the overall views of one song through all of it’s videos. But this chart helps too. It would also be helpful to be able to determin which of those voted come from Sweden, which from the rest of the participating countries and which from the non-participating countries. Votes from Sweden = indicate which song can dominate the televote in the national finals. Votes from participating countries = indicate which song has the best chances… Read more »

@Colin, the numbers are true, sadly. Jon was only 9th (the middle table was tight). I also thought he more beloved.
It seems it’s gonna be Wiktoria, Nano or Robin.

@TheBoyFromRomania – These numbers simply cannot be true. 🙁 I am all for Wiktoria winning, but Jon Henrik and Aninia simply cannot be ninth. They deserve at least top 3.

The only thing that can stop Wiktoria is the international juries, who may very well be swayed by Robin’s impressive staging. I agree they should have no place in deciding the winner – and I will feel most aggrieved if they ruin the outcome, or heaven forfend – swing it for Nano.

One more small piece of constructive criticism – Wiktoria needs to start pronouncing “stumbler” and “rumbler” correctly, instead of “stombler” and “rombler”. Otherwise, utter perfection.

She has the beauty, the voice, the carisma and the bop. She NEEDS to win! Give me someone to vote for in SF1 (other than Greece), Sweden <3
She obviously has the support of the Swedes, as she's still the highest Melfest act on Spotify, and (even though it doesn't matter as much) she was #1 on the Swedish iTunes for 2 weeks. I think she's going to win the televote, hopefully the ~international juries~ (I still don't get the meaning of international juries at a national final) will follow.

Yes, I think Wiktoria can win Melodifestivalen, and yes, I think she can win in Kyiv too.

I loved the song two weeks ago, but many listens later, and I think I love it even more. Which is not to say it’s a masterpiece or anything, but who cares?

If it was to make it to the Eurovision final, it will need a great offstage five-piece choir to match those pre-recorded backing vocals, and perhaps a more definitive ending…it doesn’t really have a proper finish at the moment, it just kinda stops.
