There are less than 24 hours until the Melodifestivalen 2017 final. And Eurofans will spend each and every minute speculating about who will snatch the winner’s trophy on Saturday night in Friends Arena.

Now, for the final time ahead of the show, we’re taking a look at the Spotify streams to see which songs the Swedish people have been playing the most. Ahead the andra chansen round Wiktoria charted highest on the Swedish Spotify charts. But how is it looking now?

The “As I Lay Me Down” singer is definitely keeping her fans awake, as she has more streams than any other artist in the final. She also has the highest charting Melodifestivalen song on the daily chart, currently sitting in second position (behind only Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You”). Overall she has over 3.7 million streams.

The bookies may have him further down the table as fourth favourite, but Robin Bengtsson has a sleek and stunning performance — and the second most daily streams with total of 218,106 in the past day. His song “I Can’t Go On” is currently the fifth most streamed song in Sweden (just behind Kygo and The Chainsmokers).

Two more acts have made it to the top ten. Nano, who qualified to the final from the first semifinal is in the seventh position with 214,689 streams. Overall his song “Hold On” has more than 2.5 million streams. Not bad for a Melodifestivalen debutant!

The boyband FO&O have legions of fans — also known as fooers — and they’ll have even more after taking part in Melodifestivalen. Overall their song is the second most streamed Melodifestivalen finalist with 3.5 millions streams. (We should note that their song has been out a week longer than those who qualified directly to the final). “Gotta Thing About You” is the tenth most streamed song in Sweden with 177,066 daily streams.

Ace Wilder, Boris René and Owe Thörnqvist are the only acts who don’t have their song in the top 50.

When looking at the total streams of the songs, it’s good to remember that songs that advanced through the andra chansen have been available longer than the ones that qualified directly to the final. For example, Boris René’s song has been on Spotify ever since the first deltävling took place on February 4.

Melodifestivalen 2017 final: Spotify streams

1. Wiktoria with “As I Lay Me Down” – 3,730,858

@Purple Mask – Thank you. I agree, Valentina and Serhat and awesome and in all seriousness, I truly believe the two could make a great duet, whether a comedic one or a serious one. We need some good humor on ESC.

@Kris – Thank you, I really tried. And ofc, here is the reliable source: 🙂

@Colin’s lyrics: Ahahahaa! 😀 In all seriousness, Valentina and Serhat are two of the most endearing people to ever be at Eurovision, and they’ll always have a special place in my heart. 🙂 As far as I know, San Marino have a duet ready with two known artists, but it has been put on hold until Monday because of the ongoing dispute with the EBU about televoting. San Marino unfortunately doesn’t have a big enough population to reach the quota of televotes, and this is a major technical problem that still hasn’t been solved to SMTV’s satisfaction. I hope they… Read more »

@Colin
I really don’t know the reason. I think it’s wrong. I want people to vote with the same conditions. But they give their votes after watching the performances on tv. That is fair. Because most votes comes from viewers infront of a screen, not from the live audience in the arena.

Wiktoria is boring

@Milla – What is the reason behind juries voting the day earlier in so many festivals, Melodifestivalen and ESC included? It’s just not fair, because they are basically rating the different performance than viewers do. In Eesti Laul, on the other hand, jurors voted after the show in front of the audience. That’s much more fair.

Apperently both Nano and Mariette had some voice problems yesterday when the international juries voted. Nano is no surprise but I’m surprised about Mariette. She’s always so solid as an artist. Probobly nerves. And Wiktoria is having a cold. If this had any impact on the juries? Robin had a great rehearsal on the other hand..

Off topic – San Marino just revealed their song and lyrics have been leaked online! Valentina Monetta feat. Serhat: “We Didn’t Know (A You Tube Song)” Lyrics: VAL: O-o, o-o-o SER: Yeah! VAL: O-o, o-o-o SER: We didn’t know! VAL: No-no, no-no-no SER: About the You Tube stuff! VAL: Every day we awake, not knowing what path to take, after we brush our teeth, and eat something sweet, we sit down on our lap, and go: yep, yep, yep… SER: Oh, yeah! VAL: I’ve already done Facebook, so I found some time and took, look into my new account, on… Read more »

This is Melofifestivalen, so of course every song is well produced and well staged. These are *my* favorites for tonight’s show: 1. Jon Henrik & Aninia – The song is really unusual, mystical, brings a new style and a new language to the table. 2/3. Wiktoria – Catchy and fun, she really is a ray of sunshine on the stage. 2/3. Mariette – Great song and a really classy performance. 4. Owe – He is adorable and I’d love to see him bring the 40s/50s style to Kiev. Would be cool to see Salvador and him together with throwback style… Read more »

Yesterday Wiktoria won with only 1% over Nano in the public vote that was made after the dressrehearsal, and 3% over Robin that came 3rd!! And with a fake international jury that was put together, Robin stood as winner with Mariette 2nd and Wiktoria on third place! This is going to be sooo excitng! Go Wiktoria and Robin! I don’t want Nano or Jon-Henrik..

If we rely on Spotify as a measure of success and how people vote in a final that is based both on visual and melody, then De Vet Du would be in the final and clean the floor. This is simplistic at best. Also, this doesn’t account at all for juries. It’s a guide, but not to be relied on. The final will be very close between JH and Wiktoria, with Robin and Nano bringing up the rear….

@Colin: Agreed. 🙂 FYR Macedonia was my favourite release today, but I love the song “Breathlessly.” The Malta video is a callback to Coldplay’s “The Scientist” video, which also used images in reverse. It does suit the song, and Claudia Faniello looks stunning in those classy outfits. It makes me want to wear a suit in her honour when she’s in London in April! 😀

About this Sweden spotify topic: FO&O song was the second-most popular. Whyyyy?! :S

@Purple Mask – Oh yeah, I love the Maltese official video. It tells a story and with an interesting editing twist. With Macedonia and Ireland revealing their songs/videos today, we got three really good official videos. Can’t wait for Moldova, UK, Switzerland and Latvia to reveal theirs.

This is not saying much since De Vet Du would have won the whole thing if it was based on Spotify streams

I love Wiktoria and her song and I believe she would do well at Eurovision, but I think that Mariette or Henrik be able to bring Eurovision back to Sweden!!
