For once, it’s the calm after the storm for Manel Navarro. Spain’s Eurovision 2017 act has been fighting accusations and allegations from the moment he won Objetivo Eurovision in February. Now he’s putting that all to one side in his official music video for “Do It For Your Lover”.
Not only that, but RTVE have revealed that Hans Pannecoucke is joining the Spanish Eurovision team as artistic director. They want to see Manel shining and slaying in Kyiv with some truly joyous staging.
Manel Navarro — “Do It For Your Lover”
The video shows off the beautiful setting of Tenerife with some stunning shots of the island. It’s a simple affair that plays well with the song’s title. Manel and friends enjoy the sights of Tenerife and indulge in some sports, whilst Manel falls for a girl they meet whilst surfing. Looks like he’s doing it for her…
It’s not clear if he ends up with the girl or not, but we know one thing. We want summer to come and to hit that beach, y’all!
Hans Pannecoucke joins Spanish team
RTVE, Manel Navarro and his team have trusted Hans Pannecoucke as their artistic director. He’s a true professional in the matter – and certainly not new to Eurovision. He’s behind not only The Netherlands’ staging of The Common Linnets and Douwe Bob, but also Belgium’s Laura Tesoro.
The announcement that he’d be working with Manel came a few days after O’GENE confirmed they aren’t working with Hans for their entry.
“Cheerfulness!”That’s the word that Hans has in his mind for Manel’s staging. He believes that Spain has to sell this idea in Kiev, simply due to how lively and cheery “Do It For Your Lover” is. “It has to invite you to fly. Direct and simple. That’s much stronger than the complicated things.”
For Hans, Manel’s talent and quality are the most important aspects to project in Kiev. And the Spanish hopeful is thrilled about this idea – “he’s the one that knows how to do it…we come together putting ideas in common and something spectacular will surely come out” of this.
Manel has already been busy promoting his song across Europe. He’s been at Ukraine and Romania’s national final so far and now moves on to the preview parties. He’s confirmed his participation in both Amsterdam and the London Eurovision Party. Manel’s looking to win over hearts, y’all!
