The OGAE Poll 2017 kicked off earlier in the week when the French fan club revealed its votes. Now it’s the turn of host club Ukraine and neighbouring Belarus — and “Occidentali’s Karma” remains the overall favourite.

OGAE Ukraine awarded their 12 points to Italy. They also put France on the leaderboard by awarding Alma dix points. Ukraine’s eight points went to Belgium. Getting points for the first time was Belarus, with NaviBand picking up five points from Ukraine.

Then it was OGAE Belarus‘ turn to reveal their voting. Belarus awarded their 12 points to Sweden, the first 12 for Robin Bengtsson. Belarus gave their 10 points to Belgium, and their eight points went to Italy. Belarus was the first club to give points to Bulgaria and Denmark, with Kristian and Anja awarded three points and one point respectively.

Adding to France’s earlier scores, the combined totals of the three clubs put Italy in first place with 32 points. In second place is Belgium with 28 points, while Sweden is third with 26 points. France debuts in fourth place with 16 points.

Kenny – I see your point. But thankfully OGAE has many straight male fans too…and women. Who hates divas, schlagers and eurballads. Like me 🙂

This might seem like a dumb question but the OGAE clubs can’t vote for their own entries, right?

My last post about Germany. – Lena was a promiscuous teenager, full of alcohol, that was not able to hold her country’s flag in the right position. – I wonder why is she still an authority. She knows nothing about anything. – The only chance for Germany is to pick a male with a decent song (if you know what decent means) – Just send a man with the song that he wants (not the audience, because the audience will want a woman, nooooooooo). – Why is so hard for you Germany to understand that Europe wants to see a… Read more »

@ M_K
Thank you for noticing the sarcasm in my post.
I never said that Germany might do well this year either.

Yes, I understand your post, and I am very upset about Germany.
Why? Just pick a star and give freedom.
I’m so sad about your selection this year.
And Germany that has so big population, and can bring from other countries if needed.
How is this possible ???

Actually Malta has more chances than your country that can’t produce one single reasonable song.

If that’s your criteria, then the only possible candidates are Australia, Bulgaria and Macedonia. All the other favourites have won before.

Italian should stop smiling, it is annoying that he smiles all the time to hide that he can’t speak english. Is fine not to speak english, bring a translator, but stop with that stupid smile that you think will get you out of any problem.

Why is it such an uncomfortable truth that OGAE gets it right most often than not? They’ve predicted the winner and top 5 accurately several times in the past. Let’s also take into account that the voting happens long before rehearsals, which can make or break a song. Last year wasn’t really the best, prediction wise, but still they got 2 out of the top 3 right, and the winner Amir was still in sixth place, so it’s not like they completely missed the mark. Bottom line is, is their top 20 accurate? No (too many variables and songs to… Read more »

To say Italy isn’t doing well is a little odd , there have only been 3 results!

It has had 2 out of the 3 available 12 points, and has only lost 4 points from the maximum possible so far.

All these polls are absurd, they never reflect reality… Last year’s winner Amir (France) ended up on #6 in the grand final. In 2014 Sanna’s Undo got #1 as well, and it was on #3 in Eurovision scoreboard. Do I need to remind you other “winners” in OGAE polls, Valentina Monetta (2013) and Mei Finegold (2014) who didn’t even pass the semifinals? We all know these OGAE polls are childish and in Eurovision semifinals and big final things will look totally diferent…

The Top 4 of the total OGAE so far, is in my opinion the most accurate Top 4 and will more than likely be the final outcome after the voting in the ESC final.
Don’t think Sweden should win though, but I can see it being top 5! Still rooting for Belgium, Italy and France though

If people don’t want Sweden to win then don’t vote for them. It’s really your blessing or fault if we win again. No one should be surprised it’s doing well, it was to be expected. It has the package. It will still get top 5, top 3 even. It will do much better than Frans did last year simply due to having more support from both fans and juries. Not that Frans didn’t score well.. The list itself is very close. For being the favourite Italy sure isn’t doing all that well. A 4 points difference between Belgium and 6… Read more »

OGAE votes never match the final results, rarely hit a winner, and often 50% or more of the final TOP10 of the ESC remains out of the picture. OGAE Belarus 2016 (Within parentheses the final score) 12pts Russia (3) wrong 10pts Australia (2) right 8pts France (6) wrong 7pts Ukraine (1) wrong 6pts Spain (22) wrooooooooooong 5pts Armenia (7) wrong 4pts Bulgaria (4) wrong 3pts Austria (13) wrooooong 2pts Hungary (19) wrooooong 1pt Poland (8) wrong 1. They did not hit the winner; 2. They did not score the songs that were in the 5th, 9th and 10 places (30%)… Read more »

OGAE never gets it right.

One main reason reason is because they don’t judge the LIVE performances, rather all they judge is the studio version and the official video.

I am really surprised that Switzerland is doing so well. I mean, the song is decent, but is it really better than 38 other entries?

The OGAE votes are always a little strange (even though they are not as outlandish as they used to be). It’s never been a prediction tool to me.

Estonia and Switzerland are those typical fanwanks what will fail in the competition.
Sad to see Portugal having just 1 point and Azerbaijan, Netherlands and so on having none.
I can’t take that OGAE-vote serious anymore and it looks like I’m not the only one here.

This poll seems quite accurate about the fan vote, but not sure it’s reflective of juries; they seem to favour ballad-like songs, so that will strengthen Belgium, Australia, Portugal, etc….However, I’ve read 10% of votes will be from the ESC app rating this year, so this could help populist acts like Italy, Sweden, etc. Happy my fav is in the lead! Forza Italia! 😀

You’re right. Ermal Meta (Vietato morire) was the best song at San Remo and the right choice for the win in Kyev. Italy won’t win ESC.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WMejmcT9ZY

Thank you, I agree ”Vietato Morire” was the right song, is not just an random song against domestic violence.
I hope the country that will win ESC to be a country that never won before, that is not in big 5, a country that will appreciate with modesty.

People above what means overrated? That if you don’t like it and bunch of other do, it’s overrated? Maybe it’s underrated for you. New always doesn’t mean better and old doesn’t mean worse. Good song is what matters.

Hi and MTB
Please act as good ESC fan. We Love ESC but have different taste. ESC isn’t about hate and we should stand over bad behavor. We have diffrent taste and oppinions. But we should respect eachother, difrent countries and the artists. Isn’t that what ESC is all about. We join n a common intrest over bordes.

Good top 4 so far….but Switzerland and Estonia are not good. However, I don’t care much about those OGAE polls. They don’t always reflect the actual results at all Thankfully. And I think mostly the results don’t show what is the best music….Often the results are typical “schlager and euroballad taste”. Slightly “cliched” picture of the so called “Average” OGAE member taste. Not much rock, indie, alternative and very original songs. A big shame! Esp. when there are lots of OGAE members who do love rock, indie and more innovative music. I don’t like the typical “ESC cliched” music. The… Read more »

@Avstriya – I LOLed! 🙂

Btw, Swedish’ song this year is even more plastic than last year’s Russian song. But hey, this is Sweden, that’s why people LOVE it, right? Just to be clear. LOL

I hate when Eurovision is being hypocritical!

There are great songs that can be winner at any given time, but we all have the idiotic plastic song of Sweden, the rubbish from Italy and the copy-paste song from Belgium as favorites. I mean, c’moooooooon!

I decided to represent Sweden next year, because I always dreamt of winning Eurovision myself. Here is a sneak peek at the lyrics:

I am a Swedish boy and it’s my only joy,
to sing a song of plastic, it’s fantastic,
call me generic or hardly authentic,
I don’t care, coz the ogays and juries love me.
