On May 12 she plans to deliver “the most spectacular of all her shows so far” inside the Kyiv Palace of Sport.

And on Thursday Eurovision 2016 winner Jamala revealed that she’s got even more surprises in store during the grand final, where she will debut her new song “I Believe in U”.

The “1944” singer spent three days filming the video for the new track in Portugal, where she visited Lisbon, the city of Sintra and the province of Alentejo. Judging from this footage on the beach, it’s going to be a visual and musical feast.

Jamala, whose star has only risen since her victory in Stockholm, will perform twice at Eurovision: first during Semi-Final 1 on May 9, and then again during the grand final on May 13.

During the semi-final she will sing the symphonic version of “1944” and her track “Zamanyly”, which she released on Halloween.

The mysterious, other-worldy song opens with animals howling before Jamala enters with her flawless vocals and daft touch with folk sounds.

Jamala, who wrote the lyrics, presents a series of contradictions in the chorus, which hint at standing up for what’s right: “If it becomes difficult, you don’t need to shout, If you know the truth, you shouldn’t be silent.”

Writing on her official page on the social networking site VK.com, Jamala said:

“‘DakhaBrakha’ added a fragment to the melody of a rare folk song ‘Na dobranich, Galju’, which can be attributed to the mystical folklore, since it includes Ukrainian mythological characters. There are a lot of symbols in the song, but at the same time, it is about today. Since man is always between darkness and light.”

I wonder what I Believe In U will sound like? I kinda miss the smiley jazz-pop Jamala from her 2011 debut album For Every Heart.

Jamala is a queen! And 1944, a masterpiece. I can’t wait to see what she is going to surprise us with in Kiev.

The last thing anyone wants after 26 songs is more songs for the interval, unless its a big star like Timberlake. I understand why Ukraine wouldnt have the money for a big star but literally ANYTHING would have been better as an interval than more songs that no one will remember the morning after

That beach looks like it is in the zone between São Julião and Ericeira. 🙂

(I’ve been there, and like people on youtube do: First!) 😛

She will serve something completely different from 1944. She’s a very versatile artist. I’m hoping for something in the vein of Smile/It’s Me, Jamala

Her career is almost over, West doesn’t care about her, and Russian market is closed for her.

20 years of what???? For Ukrainian singers Russia is a big opportunity, they need to go there to sing for more money. It’s a big door closed for her.

Very nice! I’m sure her live vocal will be amazing. I wonder how fabulous her fashion choices will be.

It would be nice to see her in SF1 too.
