The points for the OGAE Poll 2017 continue to flow in. OGAE Australia has made its debut (g’day!) with one of the larger OGAE votes so far at 77 members. Points have also come from OGAE Cyprus who have kindly put neighbouring Greece on the scoreboard this year. There are no surprises at the top, with Italy, Belgium and Sweden still in the lead.

OGAE Australia‘s top points went to general poll favourites — 12 points to Italy, ten points to Estonia, and eight points to Sweden. Australia’s ten points to Estonia is equalled only by the ten points previously awarded by Baltic neighbour Finland. The biggest surprise from down under is the single point awarded to Azerbaijan, giving Dihaj’s “Skeletons” a total of nine points.

Over in the Mediterranean, OGAE Cyprus also gave its points to poll favourites — 12 points to Italy, ten points to France and eight points to Belgium. Cyprus’s six points, however, went to Greece, which finally put Demy on the scoreboard. Demy is a well known pop star in Cyprus, so it’s no surprise there was love for her there.

On the overall scoreboard, the top seven songs remain solid, with Italy, Belgium and Sweden continuing their reign of first second and third. The only big change on the scoreboard is the introduction of Greece, with Demy’s six points putting Greece above six other countries.

Thirteen countries are yet to receive any points from OGAE clubs, but with more than half the OGAE clubs still left to vote, anything could happen.

And there is no comparison to Rybak. Rybak is an artist, he plays violin, he is proffesional musician. Portugal is amazing. Austaralia is average but not bad. And Bulgaria is weak and overrated.

Not to be always the Italian watch dog, but if the poke was referred to Francesco I have to say this: Francesco can play perfectly guitar, drums, piano and bass (plus a lot of other instruments more amateurishly). He write his songs (or co-write them) and I mean both music and lyrics, and he write for others (also important ones), he even wrote the whole soundtrack for a movie. He opened the concerts for Oasis, Stereophonics, Anastacia and Simply Red (plus other important italian artists). He is doing this job professionally since the age of 18, even if the fame… Read more »

How is it possible that Bulgaria is not the favorite at Ogae, and is the second at bookmakers? I think its a fraud with Bulgaria and bukmachers.? Rich parents?

why Bulgaria is second by bukmachers? Because of televoting and not jury because no one is able to predict how the jury votes. And OGAE is the voting of the people. Such a disparity between bookmakers and OGAe? I think that Bulgaria has buy bukmachers…….and jury too? Bulgaria is incredibly weak. He sings out of tune and has childish voice, he cant sing live. Once such persons will not qualify. The win can be bought by Bulgarian.?

But the problem is not the song. Problem is that person who CANT SING LIVE, who is out od tune and has weak voice is second by bukmachers. And people definetely dont like it, acording OGAE.

DS–Have you considered the possibility that the problem is with you and not the Bulgarian entry, the bookies, the supposedly “weak” singing by Kristian? Have you heard the story of the crooked rocket that kept finding problems with the cosmos? Also, how many times are going to compulsively write the same worthless comment? I understand that you are frustrated with Kristian’s popularity and success, but if you cannot make an argument to showthat your mental development is above that of a second grader, it will kind to all readers here to repeat yourself no more than once or twice.

Honestly, please accept other opinion than yours beacause the people can have their own opinion. Bulgaria is vocally very weak and according ogae the people didnt like it. I saw his live performances before the Eurovision Song, he did not sing one note purely. This is a forum and everyone has the right to write their opinion. Create your private forum and then moderate posts, but here everyone has the right to write.

@ds, kinjk and all the other names you are using on this forum: I really have no time to waste on blockheads. However, I would like to point out that currently Bulgaria is 6 at the OGAE poll. Jamala was 9th last year and won. Do you get it?

You are so hatefull, I feel sorry for you, its not easy to live with so big hate… Jamala won because she was amazing and oryginall. Nobody else could win because it was the best. And did not sing in English like others.

Oy! No points yet for Germany and Spain, and the U.K. is just getting on the board. This is looking like another disaster in the making for these 3 countries, and Germany can ill-afford to be last for the 3rd-straight year.

Heads are definitely going to roll like bowling balls the Sunday after the contest.

On a related but slightly different story. We are in France now and were checking a local toy shop. In the midst of shopping, I heard Frans’ ‘If I were sorry playing there’. So one year on and supermarkets across Europe are still playing the tune. Where was Frans in last year OGAE poll? Why does OGAE poll even matter?

Minus Estonia and plus Armenia, and those are the 8 best songs this year. Any of those 8 has chances to win, it will all depend on performance/staging details. Italy overrated, Belgium risky, Sweden strong, France enjoyable, Bulgaria likable, Portugal adorable, Macedonia fresh & catchy, Armenia unique.

I think dark horse and surprise in final will be Denmark and The Netherlands thanks to juries point , my predicicton both in TOP 5 with juries Denmark on 3 rd place and The Netherlands on 5 place.
My prediction TOP 5 with juries 1.Belgium 2.Sweden 3.Denmark 4.Australia 5.The Netherlands

Want to know what i think? If all world OGAE’S are like Spain’s this poll has no value at all. Spanish OGAE is a sort of restrictive male sect which has done everything to ruin Manel Navarro’s candidature spreading all kinds of rumours & lies never proved though the harm has been done. Barei & Ruth Lorenzo had to stand up against them in order to stop the bullying that young Manel has been submitted to by these “machos”. Just because Mirela their diva could not get her way to the Eurofestival after four failed attempts. Believe me, if this… Read more »

As the article said, Demy is very popular in Cyprus. It is about geography and culture but not a simple issue of voting for whatever your neighbours are. Culture crosses borders. That’s not a problem.
