It’s a weekend points-stravaganza as the votes in the OGAE Poll 2017 continue to roll in. OGAE Norway, OGAE Portugal and OGAE Rest of the World have revealed their points, and it’s good news for Montenegro. Slavko has doubled his points, while the UK is no longer at the bottom of the scoreboard. Let’s take a look!

OGAE Norway was first to reveal their votes. They gave 12 points to Italy, ten points to Estonia and eight points to France. Neighbouring Sweden only received six points, while Slavko’s wild world of “Space” earned Montenegro three points from Norway.

Next was OGAE Portugal, who had overall favourites in their top three — 12 points to Italy, ten points to France and eight points to Belgium. Some more Iberian realness was served with six points going to Finland, and four points going to the United Kingdom, resulting in a huge jump in points for Lucie Jones.

Finally OGAE Rest of the World revealed their points, representing all the Eurovision fans outside of Europe and Australia. Their dodici punti went to Italy, their dix points went to France and their åtta poäng went to Sweden. ROW was impressed enough by Svala to give Iceland four points, while they also had a single point for Montenegro.

On the overall scoreboard, Italy still has a very comfortable lead with 275 points, while Belgium is in second with 184 and Sweden is closely behind in third with 177 points.

Near the other end of the board, Iceland has more than doubled its points total from three to seven, now putting Svala in 22nd equal place, while Montenegro has gone from two to six points and is now in 24th place. The UK has said goodbye to the bottom of the scoreboard and now has a total of five points in 27th place.

Ireland has given a point to Netherlands!!!! They beat Iceland to 10th place on the very last vote of the 50 voters, Crazy!!!

Of the others who haven’t got points – Germany came 16th. Slovenia came 28th. The rest were down the bottom.

Only Georgia, Lithuania and Ukraine got Nul points.

Italy is well on its way to getting a hundred points lead on the second place. The top 5 is already rock solid, there’s quite a sizeable difference in points between 5th (Estonia) an 6th (Bulgaria).
Speaking of Estonia, I continue to be astounded by their OGAE popularity. All the other top 5 songs were already known fan favourites, and while Estonia isn’t despised, it certainly has a lot of detractors. Maybe it really will be a dark horse (much as I hate it).

There is some truth in that. Out of the top five, the other four countries all have good live performers. OGAE usually gets at least one of its top placings completely wrong. Am thinking it might be Belgium this year.

I really love how OGAE Portugal has voted!
Some points went to U.K. luckily! Also my beloved Finland!
Top 3 was obvious!

I hope the poll result won’t be too far from the actual result! For me, Italy, France, Belgium together with Finland and Bulgaria have the best songs this year!

Also Estonia slays!! I really want this to be top 10!
Portugal also voted for the interesting Hungarian entry and Switzerland. Azerbaijan got 1 point!

I really love what Portugeuse fans voted!

It is not a science that who wins OGAE polls won’t win eurovision. And btw there are some exceptions that makes your theory more nonsense: Rybak 2009, Loreen 2012, Emmelie 2013 just to do some examples! In your opinion this song is cheap and you don’t like it, but as we can see from results (the first in Eurovision history to reach 100 mlns viwes on YT before the show, first in odds, the first one in Eurovision history to gain triple platinum before the show, the most radio transmitted song in Europe in these weeks) he actually has a… Read more »

Political dynamics is a very broad term… I am not talking about conspiracy theory, simply that you have to understand a structure or an organization to understand how decisions are made or why there are only 20 OGAE clubs, when there are 43 countries… or what the hell is the vote of “the rest of the world” and how it is calculated…. If you see paranoia in my comment, it is because of you, and not the comment.

Still stunned by the popularity of Estonia’s entry, but, hey, good luck to them. I’m more surprised that the Netherlands are yet to receive a single point and the UK is languishing down at the bottom of the pack. I don’t think this poll is necessarily going to be reflected in the final results; sadly, I’m less and less convinced that Belgium will even be in the final looking at the recent live performances.

I think that Top 5 are more than obvious at this point. I mean, it’s a toss between Sweden and Belgium for a second place, but they will form a top 3 with Italy in the front. I am glad Finland is so high and I am also glad UK moved forward. Out of 0-pointers, I’d like if Moldova and Malta receive at least something before this is over.

Because there is 25 points between them and Sweden and that would imply that in the next few countries France gains a lot and Sweden little to no points. Looking the pattern so far, it seams less likely. Still, good luck to France. I like their song more than the Swedish one.

Japp Denis!
