Lithuania Fusedmarc Rain of Revolution lyrics
Lithuania, Fusedmarc’s Vakx, 2 [ELIMINATED]

Sveiki Lietuva! Today the Wiwi Jury — our in-house panel of music unprofessionals — has travelled to Lithuania to listen to their entry for Eurovision 2017. Fusedmarc are hoping to give Lithuania their first Eurovision win with “Rain of Revolution”. But are we ready to stand beside them for this revolution? Read our review!

Fusedmarc – “Rain of Revolution”

About Fusedmarc

Fusedmarc is known for their experimental music style and has won many awards in their home country. The band consists of singer Cilia and multi-instrumentalist Vakx. Lithuania’s national selection went on for over two months and Fusedmarc won the final by being the favourite of both televoters and the jury.

“Rain of Revolution” reviews

Jordi: Energy, power and electrifying rhythms are characterising raindrops from Lithuania’s “Rain of Revolution”. It’s not a bad song and the first notes of Fusedmarc’s tune introduce an interesting trumpet instrumental. Everything about this song is a pretty messy and dated 80s throwback. But her voice is impressive, and she definitely has attitude in the stage. Could be better, but it’s interesting to be considered.

Score: 6.5/10

William: If this is the theme of this revolution, I’m going to support the status quo. The song is a dated mess consisting of a series of “yeahs” and next to no melody. Not even the most competent performer — and I think Viktoria is very competent — could save this. I’m giving it a two — one point for the singer’s undeniable sass and swagger, and the other for the LED floor, which creates a stunning whirlpool effect. Now pass the ibuprofen.

Score: 2/10

Chris: Whilst it’s obviously overwhelmed by many other songs in the competition, there’s some odd charm to “Rain of Revolution”. It’s deceptively catchy, for a start. Cilia’s over-exaggerated performance is fun to watch and it’s clear that there’s been some real thought put in to the staging. Maybe the staging came before the song, though, which just lacks any relevance to a song contest in 2017.

Score: 5/10

Angus: Lithuania’s Eurovision entires oscillate between catchy and crazy, and with two catchy years behind us we were well over due for a doze of crazy. And this is one revolution you want to get swept up in. The beats are funky, the vocal sounds like a witch doctor placing a curse on you and it’s hard not to be taken in by the hypnotic melody. If you’re looking for class you’re out on your ass with this one. But if you want some classic crazy fun, this is the kind of Eastern European funk you need to get down to.

Score: 4/10

Luis: The thing about Lithuania is that the song itself is not bad at all, but seriously, was there any need of shouting like an animal at a slaughterhouse? Seriously, this woman gave me a headache. Also, what’s that cheap overproduction? I feel like they were just playing random instruments in the back. The LED is cool, but there are moments when it’s totally epileptic. Everything related to this entry is so excessive. “Rain of Revolution” leaves me mentally exhausted. I need an aspirin.

Score: 2.5/10

Deban: The band’s name and song title allude to high expectations. Unfortunately, there is nothing revolutionary about an EDM beat sprinkled with bizarre off-key vocals. The random screaming which accounts for much of the bridge is probably something we won’t get to hear in the final.

Score: 3/10

Robyn: “Rain of Revolution” isn’t a bad song. It has some great pop hooks and a dynamic structure — a solid base. Unfortunately there’s not much else to like. The song seems written for someone with a big, rich soul voice (imagine Aminata), the total opposite of Cilia’s light pop tones. The song’s production sounds so cheap, the sort of thing that was churned out in the late 1980s when synthesisers were cool and new. My score is for the song alone — everything else is just isn’t good enough.

Score: 3.5/10

George: It took me a couple of seconds to actually realise she was singing in English. That song just doesn’t work for me. It’s trying to be “revolutionary” but the only thing it manages is hurt my ears. At several points, I feel like the vocals are completely out of spot and the whole thing just sound too messy to me. Sorry Lithuania, but I can’t see you in the final with that.

Score: 3/10

My favourite song of this year!!!

It is just that most of you have the same taste – afraid to be different??
The ESC theme of this year is …
Celebrate Diversity
Note that this wiwi might be a good place for ESCfans, but the majority of the watchers and voters to semi’s and final are not here. And we here are not representative.
Lithuania as the underdog might be one of the surprises on the scoreboard.

Lithuania, we will be there in 2018!

The only thing I’m waiting for Ian Fusedmarc announcing their plans on filming an actual music video for “Rain of Revolution”. You know the saying: “It’s better than never”. 🙂

Once the song hits the chorus it becomes gold. Even the second verse becomes bearable after that. Despite major flaws I must say I am enjoying the song. I was not amused by her performance the first time but I have become more indifferent this time around. 01 Italy | 02 Norway | *03 FYR Macedonia* | 04 United Kingdom | 05 Austria 06 Albania | 07 | 08 Bulgaria | 09 Switzerland | 10 France 11 Serbia | 12 Sweden | *13 Lithuania* | 14 Denmark | 15 Moldova 16 Poland | 17 Portugal | 18 Latvia | 19… Read more »

I will admit, when I first heard this song I strongly disliked it but at the same time, it was one of the most fascinating songs this year! Lot of the songs in the competition are made from a similar formula that we’ve all heard before. This, I don’t even know what this is but I have come to like it. I don’t see this as being a winner but still I think it’s impressive. At least I remembered it. I think I remembered about 6 or 7 songs after hearing them all once and despite how wtf this song… Read more »

This song is a mess! Seriously!

I like nothing about it! The singer is great, but with another song! Not to mention half the song is “Yeah yeah”. It’s repetitive!

I’ll give it a 1!

I like it, i keep getting the chorus stuck in my head (in a good way) more so than any other song this year. At least it’s got substance, not complete throwaway pop.
Also I wouldn’t say Aminata has a rich soul voice.

Friends or politics – is Lithuanian selection criteria. Pilvelyte is not a friend.
In 2010, Eastern European Funk “won” against Pilvelyte with the song “Melancolia”.

Lithuania’s selection was b-a-d this year.
Having said that, this is not the worst song and not even in my bottom five. The singer sells the hell out of this and it is interesting enough to rise above the DOA entries such as Spain and Malta.

Someone over internet mentioned their intro reminds of ‘Ghostbusters’ theme. This still puts me to smile along with how singer looks and sings. The visuals are to lift the level of mess that happens throughout this song. I feel chorus – it’s quite funky, until it gets to scream part.
P.S. I decided to watch their finals because of Lolita Zero. That could be an extraterrestrial gimmick if that would won. Squash those watermelons and I’ll forgive you selection process’ dead end!

For me it is the strangest entry this year. It starts out as a 90’s/early 2000’s wanna-be cool soundtrack of a second-grade tv series for youngster but then develops into a screaming pop-rock mash. Neither of the two are of my liking. However, not the worst song form this year, but definitively in my bottom 5. 2/10

This is not that bad for me. It has actually grown on me. I like the chorus and the staging in the NF was amazing. However, the verses sound very dated.
Anyway, I think it won’t qualify. Lithuania had better entries in their *long* NF.

Of the 42 (I’m not including Russia) entries this year, this one actually ranks somewhere in the middle for me. There are elements of the song that are very enjoyable: I really like the retro horns, the rumbling bass line in the verse is very cool and the first part of the chorus is very catchy. Where it falls down for me is the “yeah yeah” bit in the second part of the chorus: it’s oversung, far too repetitive and drags the rest of the song down. With that said, there are far worse entries in the contest this year,… Read more »

Lowest score since 2012 is Georgian “I’m the Joker” and highest score is Swedish “Euphoria”, both from 2012. “I’m the Joker” scored 1.75 and Euphoria scored 9.25.

I am not sure if a national final song surpassed either record, but probably yes.

Siru’s “Mustelmat” from Finland’s 2015 national selection received an astonishingly high 9.7 average from the Wiwi Jury. Remember this?: http://wiwibloggs.com/2015/02/14/wiwi-jury-umk-edition-siru-mustelmat/73023/

However, the song didn’t win the National Final, and there was a considerable amount of egg on the faces of the Wiwi jury that day. 😀

Such a shame it didn’t win. It was a 10/10 song if you ask me. The performance might have put it to 9.5, but it was still excellent. Moreover, Opera Skaala was a 9 and “All for Victory” an 8. Instead, we got a song that I would score a 1/10 on a good day. Even so, I was happy the diversity of performers has been shown and this guys had an amazing experience.

UMK 2015 was so frustrating. 2016 was only slightly better, with 5 finalists I would score over 8 and again, a weak song won. I had zero expectations for this year, so the best song winning by a landslide caught me by surprise. 🙂

When anarchic art goes wrong, we’re often left with something like this. I agree with Pablo (in the comments); the fault perhaps lies in the Lithuanian selection process, which badly needs a revamp. This is the worst ever Lithuanian entry, and it’s my lowest ranking of 2017. Yeah yeah, no no! 1/10.

At least Slovenia’s Omar Naber is somehow listenable (not good, but it is not hurting)
but Lithuania’s Fusedmarc is a complete disaster and will probably end up in the biggest difference from 16 to 17.

Last year, their selection process gave a great output (ok there were a lot more Songs with high potential than this year) but it’s still the longest and most annoying one of all the countries.

I feel like this is supposed to be an “art piece” for selected few Post-modernist enthusiasts. For me, it’s just a background noise. I feel like there might be decent song somewhere in there waiting to come out under all the wreckage. But the worst part is that it never intrigues me enough to find out. The performance is just weird and messy. The production seams cheap and they said they plan to keep it similar for Kiev. Even if they have a good position, I doubt this will reach finals. For you it’s just a background noise because you don’t know sh** about music. Only people who have a good ear for music will understand this song that y’all call a “mess”. I’m a singer myself. I know every note I hear in every song and to me this song is really good, but it’s just too difficult to understand for people who are either tonedeaf or don’t have a good ear for music (it’s rare to have it). So most of the people who watch eurovision don’t know what it’s like to actually feel the music. When Fusedmarc sings… Read more »

The staging was pretty cool in the national final but I feel like it is trying to distract you from how bad the song is. It is probably the worst the song this year, it is dated, repetitive and her voice is annoying. Does not have any hope in qualifying and should finish last in their semi

Polegend Godgarina

It won’t get nul points for sure. Ireland and Norway have been giving Lithuania 12 points in televote for a few years because of the huge immigrant population, they’ll probably end up with 25-30 points in the end – but I can’t see any serious jury giving this any points at all. Maybe someone will be fooled into thinking this is some kind of postmodern art masterpiece and vote for it?

Actually I can see the juries preferring this to San Marino and Romania in SF2. That still makes it 16th out of 18 participants, but I can’t see this finishing dead last out of all 42 countries. The song that does is never the worst.

What I love about this year is that all songs have some kind of support. For example, while many people dislike Malta, it’s in my top 15. On the other hand, I really don’t like Montenegro, but I see many people do. It makes it more unpredictable. None of the songs seems to be “panned” by everyone.

The two lowest Wiwi jury scores for Eurovision songs, 1.75 and 1.79, both belong to Georgia 2012 and 2014 respectively.
This is the highest ‘lowest score of the year’ yet, perhaps reflecting the increase in size of the jury.

Their selection process is to blame. It’s too long! The early favorites end up getting boring with the voting public by the end of it. Plus, the ogre-looking Dalia Ibelhauptaite lady in the Lithuanian jury literally said not to vote for Aiste after her performance in the final (she’s an obsessed Aiste hater, even last year she scalped her and all because she “gets negative vibes from her”).

Yeah, they were marketable and had a wide reaching appeal, but there was little transfer to live performances. I seriously hope we get to see Greta and Kotryna in the following years, but their live performance was seriously not great. ‘I’m like a Wolf’ was not much, or at all harder to sing than ‘Rain of Revolution’, and it didn’t suit Aiste, like, at all. It’s Aminata song, and maybe Aminata would have done justice to it, but Aiste did come close to that. This is a disaster for Lithuania. I feel bad for Fusedmarc in the sense that someone should’ve helped them modernize and fine-tune their act. At best this is quirky like that song Attention from 2014. But it’s too out in left field as it is now. There is definitely good songwriting, but it’s buried underneath the ridiculously cheap production – someone give these folks a better selection of virtual instruments! They should ask Aminata to help last-minute. Also, one last thing: better enunciation is needed. I love the singer’s pitch control, tone and enthusiasm, but I can’t tell what she’s… Read more »
