She’s the Polish former girl scout who travelled to every promo show in the lead up to Kyiv. And on Monday, Kasia Mos gave a powerful first rehearsal of her dramatic pop ballad “Flashlight”, keeping it simple and minimalistic.

After lighting up the stage, not just with LED features but also her angelic presence, she caught up with wiwibloggs and reflected on her performance and its magical moments.

Kasia Mos: Interview after first rehearsal

Music runs in the Mos family and the violinist who shares the stage is Kasia’s older brother Mateusz. He plays in her band outside of Eurovision and also in her father’s orchestra.

“I always want to take him with me whenever I can because I feel so good when he’s around,” Kasia says, explaining how they lift each other up as musical siblings do.

Of course, she mentions that her father felt a bit of a sting over losing his violinist for two weeks but he agreed with the decision. The family that plays together slays together.

POLAND: FIRST REHEARSAL AT EUROVISION 2017

The performance differs from Kasia’s national final performance. “I wanted plexus animals” – that’s networks made up of intricate formations like that of a spider’s web — Kasia mentions on design. The inclusion of animals was a difference she and her team have been certain of ever since. “We knew we wanted birds and I knew I wanted other animals and some word at the end to make a point,” Kasia says about planning for Eurovision.

On her staging, she questions the bright visuals in her first performance, “I think the background is a bit too light, I want it more dark blue,” It seems she may long for a bit more darkness like in the national finals as her current impression is “too blue for me.”

There is also an alternative white dress to try out in later rehearsals, Kasia reveals they are similar but option #2 is not a one shoulder gown.

Poland 2017: First Press Conference

When asked about magical moments while on tour, Kasia was quick to respond that she wants to return to Israel’s Western Wall to reflect on life, “Jerusalem was very magical for me, the Western Wall and the whole trip was amazing.” London also got a mention, “I really like to be there,” Kasia commented on how London Eurovision Party-goers were very supportive, “I feel very comfortable and the people there were very nice.”

With only one week until the first semi-final, Kasia humbly shares, “My biggest dream is to be in the final” before she acknowledges her understanding that people may have different tastes to her music.

What do you think? Will Poland be a fan-favourite again and make the grand final? Or take us to Warsaw 2018?

She is such a lovely and talented person. I hope she will be on the final because she deserves it. Hope she become more famous after eurovision. Good idea with darker lightning. Wish there will be smoke on stage just like on the background. It would be perfect.
