Back on March 19, we asked you — our readers — to pick your favourite Nordic entry of Eurovision 2017.  It was a close race, but in the end Sweden’s Robin Bengtsson prevailed with his R&B flavoured sex anthem “I Can’t Go On”. Looks like all that treadmill walking has paid off…

Sweden, which advanced from the first semi-final on Tuesday, is currently sitting pretty with the bookies, who have him down as fifth favourite to win. His slick performance includes funky choreography and plenty of swagger, and sees him seduce the audience with close-ups of his smouldering eyes and a hand gesture that might get him in trouble in Brazil…

The other Nordic entrants from Semi Final One — Iceland and Finland — did not advance to the final, marking the third straight year of relegation for Iceland and the second straight year for Finland.

The other two Nordic entries — from Norway and Denmark — had better luck during their semi final appearances on Thursday. Norway’s JOWST advanced with the radio-friendly song “Grab the Moment”, while Denmark’s Anja Nissen reached several climaxes in “Where I Am” to slay her way to the final.

RESULTS: FAVOURITE  NORDIC ENTRY OF EUROVISION 2017

  1. Sweden: Robin Bengtsson – “I Can’t Go On” (26.52%)
  2. Denmark: Anja Nissen – “Where I am” (22.12%)
  3. Finland: Norma John – “Blackbird” (19.08%)
  4. Iceland: Svala – “Paper” (17.62%)
  5. Norway: JOWST – “Grab the Moment” (14.66%)

Well Iceland was really nice live, but the staging was pretty empty and again – dark! At least there could be camera work. Unfortunately – also nope.
Finland was good but again, where was Lasse? Piano part wasn’t well executed as for me. Also I have to admit that song is way too calm for contest, pity truth that rest of whom we watched contest together agreed.

I don’t like this Entry at all. Neither the Song nor the Singer. He looks like he’s so freaking in love with himself. Sorry, Sweden. Normally I do root for you in one way or another but this year I would have preferred Finland over Sweden and Denmark. .__.

The best one didn’t make it to the final. It’s Finland. The rest is garbage.

I liked Denmark, it had so much passion. Sweden’s song looked like a commercial for tailored suits.

My list is:
1. Finland – so underrated, this is real music (not Salvadors fake acting)
2. Sweden – leaves me cold, but has a catchy chorus and great performance
3. Iceland – I see why this didn’t appeal to masses, but Svala is amazing
4. Norway- I like the vocal effects and the show, but the chorus is so boring
5. Denmark – Is there a melody hidden somewhere between the shouting? I totally don’t get this entry and the overuse of her vocal power makes her voice sound annoying.

I take it you’re a close friend of Salvador to know that he’s acting.

I swear some of you people are pathetic.

His reaction to realizing he had qualified was clearly play acting for the cameras, come on anyone can see that. So fake.

Oh, the people’s prejudices… If t doesn’t fit their ‘thatthatthat’ quota, it’s a fake…

It’s the third consecutive non-qualification of Finland as well.

All Nordics are on a plus side this year!

1. Finland – 10/10 – For me the best song, so underrated
2. Norway – 9.5/10 – Very unique, I voted them in the semi
3. Denmark – 8/10 – What a voice! Nice song too.
4. Sweden – 7/10 – Bit generic, but polished and charismatic
5. Iceland – 6/10 – Not a bad song, just completely disconnected with the performance

From the countries that qualified my favourite is Sweden! If things were different I would definitely root for Finland!
