As of now, he’s the last person to represent Turkey at Eurovision. Since entering the contest in 2012, he’s opened an art gallery and continued to advance his music career. And earlier this year, Can Bonomo released his fourth studio album, Kainat Sustu (The Universe is Quiet).
In just a matter of weeks, he’s already dropped two new songs, the first being “Kal Bugün” (Stay Today).

Poor Can’s heart is broken and he desperately wants his ex-lover to love him back again.
Feelings of separation and melancholy dominate as Bonomo sings “It’s too hard to forget and too hard to wish the same thing everyday. Stay today, or I will die.” Can wrote the lyrics himself, giving the track a poignant personal touch .
The official music video is something of a tragic comedy as we see Can’s depressed friend create a mannequin girlfriend.

The sombre themes continue with Can’s latest effort “Erkekler de Aglar” (Men Cry Too), a non-album single.
As the title suggests, the song looks at emotional turmoil from a uniquely male perspective. The “Love Me Back” hitmaker tackles the macho-norms where boys are told not to cry and to wipe away any tears. Instead, he tells us that everyone is different with their own burdens to bear. Most importantly, men also cry.
The black and white music video is suitably bleak, showcasing a selection of men and the pain they endure.

He may still be releasing music, but Eurovision is no longer on Can’s mind.
Speaking to Turkish media, he said
It’s a great opportunity for young musicians for themselves and for our country. I think we should return. But I would not represent Turkey again. I have done with it. I won’t be useful because I have been on that stage before.
Aww! Sad face.
