mirela contigo objetivo eurovision

She was the main character of Spain’s Objetivo Eurovisión telenovela earlier in February.

And on Friday “Contigo” singer Mirela made it clear that she’s had enough of the euro-drama for this lifetime.

Speaking to Shangay, Spain’s almost Eurovision singer said she doesn’t have plans to return to a national selection in the future.

“I’m so sorry, but I’ve had enough with this one,” she said. Y’all need some tissues?

Mirela sings “Contigo” live at Objetivo Eurovisión

It’s perfectly understandable. Living through the mayhem that was Objetivo Eurovisión is something she should highlight on her CV. It certainly shows her abilities to persevere and remain cool under pressure. Things got rul tense, but she kept calm…even as she narrowly lost during her fourth attempt at going to Eurovision.

Despite not flying to Kyiv, Mirela’s year has been full of highs. She’s recording new music, and is currently taking part in The Lion King musical in Madrid, where Eurofans regularly shower her with love and applause.

And last week, ahead of the Eurovision final, she took part in a Netflix sketch with all of Spain’s Eurovision royalty. She joined Edurne, Ruth Lorenzo, Soraya, Rosa López and Eurovision 1968 winner Massiel in a parody of “Las Chicas del Cable” — the first Spanish production created for the platform.

Las chicas del televoto – Televote girls

Edurne, Ruth Lorenzo, Soraya and Rosa López play the operators of the Eurovision televote.

They all nod to their Eurovision entries, with Soraya saying that “the nightshift is for her” and Edurne undergoing a dress change.

In the end Mirela enters the boss’ office and asks if there’s room for her to be an operator next year.

As a Eurovision fan, Mirela has strong opinions about the 2017 edition.

She loves this year’s winner Salvador Sobral and was happy to see Portugal come out on top.

“I may be naïve, but I’ve always thought that Eurovision is not all about politics. I’ve always thought that it’s possible to win if you bring a good song, and Portugal proved it,” she said.

New music coming soon?

She may not be returning to Objetivo Eurovisión — or whatever form it takes moving forward — but that doesn’t mean Mirela won’t one day appear at Eurovision. She hasn’t explicitly ruled out a Eurovision appearance if she is internally selected by the broadcaster.

Eurovision aside, Mirela will continue combining her gig in The Lion King with her music career. She says she’s working on new songs, which will hopefully be out by the end of this year. Fancy another summer banger for Christmas?

Are you sad that Mirela isn’t coming back to a Eurovision selection? Do you think she would have fared better than Manel had she gone to Kyiv? And what kind of music do you expect from her next? Share your thoughts in the comments section below!

Well, with a song like ‘Contigo’ I don’t want her to return. Indeed, the pink Spanish eurofans are unbearable and embarrasing for other Spanish. They would whorship any diva, not worrying about the song, just because is a diva and that’s the worst that can happen to anybody, someone who is praising you even when you are doing something wrong or are bad at something.

Spain and Eurovision don’t need Mirela nor crazy talifans. So, yeah… stay away Mirela, you have a good voice, but that’s all!

Now that time has passed and Eurovision is over I think Mirela wouldn’t do as well as we thought. She would have done better than Manel though, she wouldn’t have been last!
Mirela is a talented singer and I’ll definetely have “Contigo” in my summer playlist here in sunny Greece! I don’t know if she won’t participate again in the NF, never say never!

Thanks god. She is not good singer and her song was 2000`s cheap eurotrash. Manel as a boy with guitar and summer song was better choice. Spain should choose any interesting group. Their soloists have bad results. Its time for change.

Last time they sent a group things weren’t also very good for them… :/

(Even though I love ‘Contigo hasta el final’)

I understand her. She was robbed big time. I hope the two biased Objetivo Eurovisión jurors are happy now that Spain sent Manel’s trash and came last.

TG… I”m glad to read it. Sorry, but I find Morels too much overrated by Spanish eurofans. Now I suppose that her music career is over taking into account that she is ONLY known by her eurovision attempts

I don’t want to sound rude, but I’m glad she won’t try again. I agree that Manel’s song may not be the best one of our national selection, but Mirela’s one wasn’t either. She had tried many times and didn’t win, there must be a reason for that. Maybe she can try, but in a few years, with a new sound and maybe having had evolved musically.
I repeat I say all this with all my respect. xx

To be fair to Manel, mirelas song would have perhaps placed a little better.. But not much….

Manel was the winner… And that is it.

She will never be selected internally since she isn’t known in Spain. It’s not like in other countries.

It might only happen, if she would have an amazing song, and that’s almost impossible to happen.
Also TVE choose artists, not songs.

And next year “OT” is back (our selection 2002-2004). If it’s a big success, next Spanish entrant will be selected from there.

If RTS could internally select someone as obscure as Tijana, RTVE could easily internally select her- although I’m still holding out for Brequette.

She’s been coming 2nd since her previous attempt. If they ever want her to go to ESC then she would have to be internally selected instead. I do feel bad for her though..

Its kinda true though. Just listen to the translation of Contigo’s lyrics. They were both generic. Le Klein’s Ouch was the only one that had any lyrical depth in it.

Ouch was a lyrical tragedy all around.

Ouch was a good song, but I wouldn’t say it was practicularly strong in the lyrics.
I don’t understand much from the lyrics of Momento Critico, but that was the other good song they had. I hope somebody can confirm me they’re not bad.
Contigo, on the other, is not my kind of music in any way. I think it would’ve been again that overrated song that I couldn’t stand and in the end it finishes in the bottom like last year’s song from Spain.

i think if she went on to represent spain this year she will probably end up with similar result as manel because her song isn’t that strong tbh.

With Mirela Spain would be finished like Greece,Cyprus, Israel postion from 19 to 24 place. Mirela would be in bottom 5 with juries .
Only with Leklein they had chance to finished in TOP 15 , more points from juries.

I wouldn’t either with the whole ordeal about Manel being friends with the judges and whatnot. Good for her tbh! Eurovision will always be political one way or another.
