Italy: Nina Zilli goes reggae in her new single "Mi hai fatto fare tardi"

In 2012 she served Amy Winehouse realness with the bombastic “L’amore è femmina (Out of love)”, which placed ninth in the grand final of Eurovision 2012 in Baku, Azerbaijan.

And today Nina Zilli makes her comeback on the Italian music scene with her fresh new single “Mi hai fatto fare tardi” (You made me late).

The song does not differ from the recognizable style of the Italian artist, which is characterised above all by inspirations from contemporary r&b and soul of the 60’s.

“Mi hai fatto fare tardi” — a sexy, hypnotising mid-tempo number — is closer to reggae with its smart use of urban sounds.

Written by Nina herself, together with Dario Faini, Tommaso Paradiso (leader of the band Thegiornalisti) and Calcutta, the track has been produced by Michele Canova.

He is the most famous Italian record producer, arranger and engineer, who has previously worked with two other former Eurovision stars: Marco Mengoni and Francesca Michielin.

The brand new single by Nina Zilli — a song that larks on the theme of love — comes amid anticipation for her next project, out in September. It will be the fourth studio album of her career after “Sempre lontano” (2010), “L’amore è femmina” (2012) and “Frasi & Fumo” (2015).

Over the past two years the Italian stunner has been one of the judges on the panel of Italia’s Got Talent. She sat next to actor Claudio Bisio, actress and comedian Luciana Littizzetto and YouTube star and pranker Frank Matano.
