She made an instant impact with judge Pixie Lott with her blind audition of the Jessie J single “Mamma Knows Best”.

And on Saturday evening Ireland’s Zena Donnelly continued her quest during the battle rounds of The Voice Kids UK 2017.

Despite a sound group performance of the Little Mix single “Little Me”, our Junior Eurovision lovely missed out on a place in next week’s semi-final.

The show involved a three-way battle for a place in the semis. Unlike the adult version of The Voice UK, there are no steals for coaches will.i.am, Pixie Lott and Danny Jones — so there were no second chances for Ireland’s “Bríce ar Bhríce” singer.

Team Pixie Battles round – Zena, Miriam and Jess

Zena’s battle round opened the Saturday show and saw her pitted against 14-year old Miriam Nyarko from London and 13-year old Jess Folley from Essex.

All three girls wowed the audience with their performance of the Little Mix hit and the judges were equally impressed.

“That was an amazing Battle,” McFly’s Danny Jones said. “I feel like I’ve just been to one of your shows. It was that good.”

The performance left fellow coach will.i.am wanting more.

“I swear to you, like, everyone felt it. Then at the end when I thought you were finished and you kept on going. I’m like ‘Yo, you’re tricking me right now!’ I didn’t want you to stop, it was really awesome.”

Pixie Lott then had her say on the performance from her three girls before making her all-important decision.

“It’s the reason that I wanted you to sing together because you’re all superstar divas, and I know that if you were together, you would push each other to reach your full potential.”

And after a nerve-racking wait, she announced Jess won the battle and secured one of Pixie’s four places in next week’s semi-final. Zena herself wasn’t too disappointed at the decision, saying, “It’s been absolutely amazing working with the girls. Thank you.”

I’m really disappointed that Zena was eliminated. She did great during her experience on The Voice Kids. 🙁

Hopefully Zena will get into the regular version of The Voice one day. 🙂
