She’s the Russian beauty remembered for her stunning performance — and very emotional expressions — at Eurovision 2015, where she finished as runner-up.

And on Friday Russia’s Polina Gagarina put her emotions on fine display yet again as she released the music video for her song “Dramy bolshe net” (No more drama).

The lyrics smack of emancipation and the power that comes when you finally decide it’s time to say goodbye.

“Our ships have left the horizon,” she sings. “I will raise a white flag over my head, just know that I’m not the enemy…there is no more drama! No more drama…time heals the wounds on our souls.”

Eurovision fans who only know Polina for “A Million Voices” will be surprised by the contemporary sound, which marries a heavy beat with Polina’s power vocals. But the majority of you — who will know her string of hits from her 2016 album 9 — will appreciate how this fits into her ever-evolving oeuvre. Either way, you’ll soon be able to repeat “dramy bolshe net’ regardless of whether you speak Russian.

The video sees Polina dealing with a temperamental lover — played by dancer Sergei Krapiva — who, at one point, smashes an LED television with a golf club. As he attempts to woo her back, he buries his face into her stomach and rips away her newspaper.

When she isn’t screaming and repeating “no more drama”, Polina remains stoic and somewhat cold — no doubt putting on the necessary armour to resist his pleading. For a woman singing about the end of drama, it’s all rather dramatic.

Writing on Facebook, Polina explained that she filmed the video in early July over 20 hours. The creative team left the script open.

The ending — which sees her former beloved fleeing — is incredibly ambiguous. We see Polina screaming in a swimming pool and appearing to drown. Did he end her life on the way out? Did her regrets lead her to take her own life? It’s up to you to decide.

“This song has become very important for me,” Polina writes. “We told a real life story with an unusual ending — beautiful and very expressive.”

Polina, one of Russia’s most in-demand stars, has also released the offical video clip for her song written for the Confederation Cup 2017, in collaboration DJ Smash and Russian singer Egor Kreed.

The video clip of the song is colourful and full of diversity, and meant to reflect the spirit of the football competition. To that end the song mixes pop, rap and, of course, DJ Smash’s electro flourishes.

“The team is not only 11 people on the field, the team is you and me!” they write in the description of the video. “The song is not so much about football as about the Team, as the most important component of success in any field. And it does not matter in which corner of the country you live, who you work for or what you do — at the most crucial moment we are able to unite and become a real TEAM!”

Cheers to that.

Not a big fan of the song but I’m glad she gained a little weight because at Eurovision she was ridiculously too skinny!! A million voices is still one of my favorite Eurovision songs of all times!
