She’s the Turkish-Belgian beauty who made our hearts go “Düm Tek Tek” at Eurovision 2009, and who recently spoke out in favour of Turkey’s participation in the contest.

And in early July Hadise became our champion once again with the release of the music video for her latest single “Sampiyon” (Champion). We obviously missed it — and it’s time to right that wrong.

Returning to the eastern-infused pop of her mega-hit “Prenses”, “Sampiyon” moves away from the slower-tempo and more sultry sound of her most recent singles “Bu Aralar” and “Yaz Günü”.

Infused with trumpets from the start, “Sampiyon” is an upbeat number made to get you up and moving on these hot summer days. Hadise is in love and unable to stop thinking of one particular man. As she sings: “I have written his name, can’t delete it / I’ve caught you tight, you can’t go away”. In the chorus she makes it clear that being no.1 means she’ll get the spoils: “Sugar comes to the champion, comes to/ the champion sugar comes”. We definitely have a sweet tooth for this one…

Hadise amplifies the fun-loving pop number by giving it a slick visual treatment. The music video, directed by Hadise’s sister Hülya Açikgöz, sees the champion rocking three distinct looks while leading a set of eight female backing dancers. Girl power, indeed!

Hadise also sports a new hair colour. Gone are the long blonde locks — instead we find luscious dark brown tresses that flow effortlessly to her sun-kissed décolletage. Blonde to brown and every shade in between, she can werk any hair colour she wants.

Once again proving herself to be a fashion chameleon, Hadise rips her way through a series of looks. She starts off in a white and red cheerleader outfit paired with a varsity-style jacket (both labelled with the letter ‘H’ to remind you who they’re cheering for). Somewhat cheekily, Hadise sings around a candyfloss maker in reference to the ‘sugar’ she’s after.

Later she sports a ripped, blue tunic dress with knee-high black boots and a gold medal occasionally hung around her neck, before finally slipping into a gunmetal grey coat with a bandeau top and trousers. That is how you introduce an instrumental bridge!

ELLE ??

Each look compliments her stunning figure and flawless face. It’s clear why she was awarded first runner-up in the inaugural edition of Eurovision’s Next Top Model and how, more recently, she landed on the cover of the August 2017 issue of ELLE Turkey Magazine.

Since its release, the video has racked up nearly 21 million views on YouTube. Hadise also shared a screenshot with her 5.8 million Instagram followers, showing that her video was the most-watched in Turkey of the week ending July 17, according to the weekly YouTube country charts. Thirteen years since her first single, there’s no sign that Hadise’s star is burning out.

“Sampiyon” is the title track of Hadise’s seventh studio album, released on June 30. It includes seven tracks and two remixes — because this Turkish beauty likes to mix it up.

Two days after its release, Hadise performed the new album’s tracks for fans at La Plaj Bodrum in Yalikavak. It may have been 40°C, but she still made sure to bring a fiery show for all those watching.

Speaking to the press, including Milliyet.com.tr, before the performance, Hadise talked about the overwhelmingly positive response to the album.

“The album was sold on digital platforms and I haven’t slept for two nights. I looked at the reactions from social media and cried while reading those comments.”

Hadise also made it clear that the album’s title conveys her unwavering spirit.

“The reason I named my album ‘Champion’ is because I’m special and I want to be the best in my work.”

“When I look in the mirror, ‘Yeah, you’re the champion’ I like to say.”

It’s clear she’s determined to keep on growing, and we’re confident that she’ll be the champion for a long time to come.

AEGEAN SEA EARHTQUAKE

Hadise no doubt appreciates her success even more following recent events.

Writing on Instagram she revealed that she and her family were on holiday in Bodrum when the region was impacted by a 6.6 magnitude earthquake in the Aegean Sea on July 20.

Allah ülkemizi daha fazla depremlerden korusun in?allah. Ve ya?anan depremlerde hayat?n? kaybeden vatanda?lar?m?z için dua ettik, mekanlar? cennett olsun?? Yesterday night me and my family were in Bodrum and we felt the earthquake. We threw ourselves out of our house and we slept outside because we kept on feeling the after shocks and we were so afraid. To all the people who ever had to go through a devastating earthquake, we send you love and prayers. I'm so glad me and my family are ok as well as everyone else who went through this horrible night. Our prayers are for those families whose lives were lost during the toughest earthquakes in Turkey in the past years.??

Hadise may be a champion on the charts, but her kind words prove she’s first and foremost a champion of hearts.

SAMPIYON LYRICS – HADISE

Sampiyona seker geliyor geliyor
Sampiyona seker geliyor
Yildizi var basinda basim mi dönüyor
Sampiyona seker geliyor
SAM PI YON

Bir kader var bilemiyoruz
Mucize sakli göremiyoruz
Arkadaslar dalga geçti
Bakisini gördüm dans ederken

Adini yazdim silemiyorsun
Siki siki tuttum gidemiyorsun
Elime düstün yavrucugum
Git desem de zor gidersin

Ask tutukladi kalbimi
Zil çaldirdi eteklerimi
Sen sahane gelen

Dur yapma kimsenin canini yakma

Since VRT are organising for 2018, this could happen- Hadise is from the Flemish (Dutch) part of Belgium! And they are internally selecting…..

Likely not but I’ve heard far more ridiculous rumours to be honest. And I wouldn’t mind this.
