Mina Blazev Macedonia Junior Eurovision 2017

You wait ages for an artist announcement and then two come at once. No sooner had Georgia revealed its Junior Eurovision act this morning, than Macedonia unveiled Mina Blazev as its singer for Tblisi.

Her song will arrive at a later date.

The 14 year old was selected following a series of auditions earlier this month. Born in Skopje, the talented teen is no stranger to TV singing contests. She previously participated in the pan-Balkan Pinkove Zvezde talent competition, as did her Macedonian predecessor Martija Stanojkovic.

Macedonia at Junior Eurovision

Macedonia is one of the most prolific nations in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Debuting at the very first edition in 2003, the country has only missed out twice — 2012 and 2014. Alas, they’ve yet to secure victory or even a podium finish.

Their best results were in 2007 and 2008, when they came fifth. They’ve finished last on three occasions, most recently in 2015 when Ivana Petkovska and Magdalena Aleksovska sang “Pletenka – Braid of Love”. However, the entry did have its fans, including our Angus:

Sweet, catchy and energetic, “Pletenka” has everything a JESC song should. What it lacks in artistic depth, it more than makes up for with sweet vocal delivery and catchy lyrics. Ivana and Magdalena are a magnetic pair, so given some choreography on stage this will be a smash in Bulgaria.

Last year, the hotly tipped Martija Stanojkovic performed “Love Will Lead Our Way “. The radio-friendly pop bop quickly established itself as a fan favourite, but could only manage 12th place in the final. For our William it was love regardless:

If Martija could enter adult Eurovision, she’d take Macedonia straight to the final. This mixes Balkan realness with Caribbean cool, creating something at once regional and international. Although the melody is nice, it is a tad repetitive and loses my interest rather quickly. But no matter. Martija can be proud she’s delivered FYROM’s best-ever entry at JESC.

Will Mina be able to deliver Macedonia its best ever Junior Eurovision result? Are you excited for her song? Let us know in the comments below.

It’s FYROM (or F.Y.R. Macedonia, even) not simply Macedonia. That’s wrong. If the EBU, the United Nations, the Olympics, etc., can get it right, why can’t you guys? Just do as Eurovision does and ALWAYS refer to it as FYROM or F.Y.R. Macedonia, and everyone is happy.

Only you seem unhappy by this .
When anyone says Macedonia we know they are speaking of the country which was represented by Martija and Jana . So I don’t think there is a pointless need to argue here.

There’s a reason why it’s only allowed to participate in international events with the name F.Y.R. Macedonia. You have the internet and google. Do some research.

Actually, people will be happy if you let them call Macedonia the way they want them to.

With that said, good luck Macedonia!

Love will lead our way.

In Italy everyone calls it Macedonia, and it’s the same in every other country that’s not Greece. Learn it, love it, leave it.

Macedonia it’s an underrated country just because it’s Macedonia and that makes me sad and angry at the same time. Australia was awful at ESC but Juries placed them 9th in final and 3rd (I think) in Semifinal 1 just because it was Australia.

I still can’t believe how FYROM placed 12th last year. Don’t even talk about Jana’s ‘Dance Alone’ no-qualification. It has to be the most underrated country in ESC and JESC…

I hope She can take revenge for being so underrated in 2016.

Hey I do not want to sound rude or anything, but are you obsessed with age of the artists, I mean that’s really not important, and I see you everywhere in multiple pages Eurovoix, Wiwibloggs, and you comment only about age all the time, and not just JESC, but ESC as well. Just explain, again don’t want to sound rude, but it wonders me.
