Following last week’s season opener, the Netherlands’ Junior Songfestival continues apace. The second semi of the Dutch selection process for Junior Eurovision 2017 took place on Saturday night, with boy band Fource coming out on top.

Unlike previous Dutch selections, this year’s Songfestival will only select the act for Tblisi. The song will be chosen separately. Accordingly, the three semi-finalists tackled tracks made famous by others. Fource impressed with their interpretation of  Shawn Mendes’ “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back”.

The four boys saw off competition from Wieke and Dylan with “A Whole New World” from Disney’s Aladdin and girl group Manouk with James Arthur’s “Say You Won’t Let Go”.

Reflecting the 2016 rule change which saw Junior Eurovision become wholly reliant on jury votes, Saturday’s result was determined solely by an expert panel. As in semi one, it consisted of perennial fan hope for Eurovision Sharon Doorson, former Dutch national finalist and TV personality Tim Douwsa and two time Junior Eurovision host Kim-Lian van der Meij.

Fource join Sezina — the semi one winner — in next Saturday’s final. Montana is the third finalist. After being eliminated last week, she managed to secure the all-important wildcard. A jury made up of former Dutch JESC representatives Ralf Mackenbach (2009), Mylène & Rosanne (2013), and Kisses (2017) deemed her worthy of a second shot at Junior Eurovision glory.

The grand final is scheduled for next Saturday, the winner of which will represent the Netherlands in Tblisi. Their song will be revealed at a later date.

Really? In my opinion in this SF was Manouk the best by far! She can sing soo good! She reminds me of Slovenia 2015! Fource was my second in this SF. They were good, original, but not for the final… Wieke & Dylan did it also good, but I guess that if they represent the Netherlands this year, we will get one of the last places.. Like Israel 2016… My favourite is Montana, so happy that she won the wildcard!! Amazing voice and performance! In my opinion she has the whole package to go to Tblisi! Sezina has also an… Read more »

Great top 3, but I would rather see Manouk in the final instead of Sezina. Montana has such a great energy and Fource can really perform. I’m rooting for these two acts,
but Sezina wouldn’t be that bad as well, she can sing!

I felt fource had the weakest performance of the three today!! But I’m no professional and the Dutch jurors clearly disagreed!!

I also felt Manouk was better than Montana.

Relax, Kris. In fact, let’s just hope that Montana and Fource perform better songs in the grand final. 😉
