After impressing the judges on the final night of auditions, things have started to get serious for Berget Lewis on X Factor UK‘s Bootcamp arena auditions.

And the journey continued for the 2003 Nationaal Songfestival finalist as she earned a place at the Six Chair Challenge on Sunday night’s show.

“I just want my voice to be heard. Even though I’m 45 I want to give it a shot,” Berget told cameras backstage before stepping onto the stage at Wembley’s SSE Arena. “When I walk out on that stage at Wembley Arena, I’m going to sing from my heart. I so want to hear that yes.”

For the first time this series, all the remaining hopefuls faced a live audience of 4,000 as well as the X Factor judges.

“I hope I can be an inspiration for other men and women of my age, that you can always go after your dream.”

With her husband watching on from the audience, Berget sang Donny Hathaway’s “A Song For You”. The audience clearly loved every moment of her performance and rewarded Berget with huge applause at the end.

It was then up to the judges to make their brief deliberations while Berget waited to hear her fate, and Simon Cowell was left concerned. “I don’t think we’re gonna hear classics anymore. It’s not going to help her.”

Sharon Osbourne then delivered that all-important decision from the judges.

“We feel that you are such a classy singer, there’s such a beautiful voice on you. It’s very, very difficult. But we want you to go through to the Six Chair Challenge.”

With Berget’s place in the Six Chair challenge secured, we’ll find out if Montenegro’s Slavko Kalezic can join Berget in the Overs category on the third and final part of Bootcamp next weekend.

Sorry, but who is she? And why is this X-Factor article related to Eurovision?

A lot of us appreciate it (I know I do). I loved the coverage of Saara Aalto last year, especially since it came at a time when news about Eurovision was dead. Thanks wiwibloggs writers!
