It’s the final OGAE contest of the year and now the nominees for the OGAE Video Contest 2017 have been revealed. The list of contestants features several Eurovision stars, including two former winners.

The 21 nominees for the 2017 competition have been announced today. Each participating OGAE fan group nominated one video from an artist from their country.

The rules are a little different from other OGAE contests. There is no language requirement, but English does not dominate the contest. At least one performer in the video must be from the nominating country — although very small countries may request an exception to this requirement.

The video must have been released either the year of the contest or the year prior, and it must be a music video, not a live performance.

While the video cannot have been featured in Eurovision or previous OGAE contests, there’s no shortage of Eurovision stars in this year’s contest. Iveta Mukuchyan, Naviband, Loïc Nottet Nina Kraljic, Marija Serifovic, Athena, Magdi Rúzsa and Jamala are among this year’s nominees.

But those acts are up against some tough competition. OGAE Australia nominated Sia‘s acclaimed music video for “The Greatest”.

Voting starts on November 1st and will run the full month until November 30th. The results will be announced just in time for Christmas, on December 20th.

This year’s OGAE Video Contest is being hosted by OGAE UK, after their nominated video “Hymn For The Weekend” by Coldplay won the contest in 2016.

The OGAE video contest has been held annually since 2003. In that time, Russia and France have been the most successful countries, each winning two contests.

Can’t do other than check if video really somewhat damages what I’ve heard and liked…

So I stayed with Belarus (still chills all the way), Turkey (video elevates song but still good re-discovery of artist), Belgium (both video and audio compliments each other, hook is weak tho), Croatia (low-key but still pretty likeable work), Armenia (gentle rnb with alt vibe, video is unnecessary).
Czechian dude was trendy, could they drag him for contest just to qualify?

So many good videos right here!
My absolute favourite here is Loic’s “Mud blood”! The music video and the song itself were amazing!
I also liked Belarus and Greece for the landscape, Australia because Sia’s music videos are so good and also Serbia and Ukraine.

I can’t help but be a little bit disappointed that Sia was chosen for Australia by OGAE, as if she’s the only artist we’re known for, lol. I like her songs, but they chose her another year before, if I remember correctly?

I hate to see articles with only certain Eurovision artists appearing in the title or on the main photo of the article – always those artists that Wiwibloggs favorite. For example, this is already the second article where Nina Kraljic plays equal role to others, however you learn about her only when you open an article. There are other examples as well.
Shame on you, Wiwibloggs!

There are only so many artists that can be included in a image collage without them becoming indistinguishable, and I hate to break it to you, but, yes, Nina, placing 23rd her year, is less notable than Jamala (1st), Loic (4th), or Iveta (7th).

First, there are many other articles with image collages including all the artists, no matter the amount of artists. Second, even with Nina placing lower than others, this correlation is not true with Wiwibloggs articles. This article is a perfect example – where is Marija Serifovic, the winner of ESC, who is still an active music artist and a public figure? Thumbs up for Peter who understands me and extending my comment to the countries, which is also true. Wiwibloggs editors, please take this as constructive criticism. As humans, you are allowed to have your favorites, but as journalists you… Read more »

I’m very surprised Francesca Michielin’s Vulcano wasn’t selected. L’esercito del selfie was the song of the summer and has an entertaining video, but Vulcano is still a much better song.

It’s so hard to choose – some ideos are so different from each other.
Anyway – I think you have the wrong link to Mikolas Josef’s song – you have a link to a lyric video, but the official video is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ujv1B_f6flg
