Following his second-place finish at Eurovision 2017, he told Russia’s Hello! magazine that he’d devote at least half of his music to Russia — the country where he has grown up and currently lives.

And on Friday Kristian Kostov made good on his word, releasing the Russian-language single “Glubina” (Depth) and its accompanying lyric video.

“What I’ve been waiting on for the last two months is finally done,” he wrote on Instagram late on Thursday evening. “Turn the volume up and hold your breath. #GlubinaIsHere.”

The artistic music video sees Kris submerged in water. Wearing billowing white cloth, he moves from floating serenely to struggling for his life and fighting for air.

At times he resembles a drowned angel, at other times he looks like a tormented young man. They’re apt visuals for the overwhelming power of love that Kris sings about.

“Between us is a hurricane,” he says in the thoroughly contemporary and on-trend song. “I’m a tsunami, you’re a volcano.
And today we will definitely run away to the end of the world (where the dawn is), I will create a world (a new world).
Only for you…”

Writing on Instagram, Kris made it clear that the video was born of countless hours of hard work.

“We have put our souls into the creation of this video!” he wrote on Friday. “So many sleepless nights, arguments and constant tweaks to make the end result near-perfect.”

“This video is a really honest work and I hope all of you will enjoy it! Still have some air left in you? Then watch the lyric video on my Youtube channel!”

“Glubina” builds nicely on Kristian’s Eurovision 2017 entry “Beautiful Mess” and further defines the genre in which he wants to play.

This thoroughly mature, contemporary track has the same polish and smooth edges of his Eurovision entry. The production is on point and emotive, and gives us major Dima Bilan vibes.

Are you loving “Glubina” as much as we are? Do you think that Kristian has found his sweet spot with these electro-tinged ballads? Let us know in the comments box below.

Glubina lyrics — English translation (Kristian Kostov)

[Verse 1, Christian Kostov]:
I feel the current flowing through my veins.
I read you between the lines.
Our connection will be difficult for them to break …
Erase, break.
Where there is no boundary line.
We circle on the blade of the knife.
We can not solve them with you.
They do not understand.
(What….)

Between us is a hurricane.
I’m a tsunami, you’re a volcano.
And today, for sure, we will escape …
To the end of the world (where the dawn)
I will create a world (a new world)
Only for you …

Refrain:
For you, there will be stars in it in the morning.
If you want, only, just for you.
There will be space behind the door.
In this world, depth …
Purple mists only, just for you …
I’ll draw a new world, just for you.

[Verse 2, Christian Kostov]:
Feelings do not have depth.
Every day, as the last day of the spring.
In this world, the sun and the moon together.
Together, always.
Thoughts are dissolved in the smoke.
I’ve been looking all my life for you alone.
We can not disassemble the chromosomes.
We can not understand.
(After all)

Between us is a hurricane.
I’m a tsunami, you’re a volcano.
And today we will definitely run away …
To the end of the world (where the dawn is).
I will create a world (a new world).
Only for you …

Refrain:
For you, there will be stars in it in the morning.
If you want, only, just for you.
There will be space behind the door.
In this world, depth …
Purple mists only, just for you …
I’ll draw a new world, just for you.

Between us is a hurricane.
I’m a tsunami, you’re a volcano.
And today, for sure, we will escape …

For you, there will be stars in it in the morning.
If you want, only, just for you.
There will be space behind the door.
In this world, depth …
Purple mists only, just for you …
I’ll draw a new world, just for you.

Initially positive reaction but I struggled to remember this again (same was with BM). Wonder why is this trendy to not outline chorus’ arrangement?

Really impressive…
Kristian is a great talent and being so young, I hope he can be on ESC again and finally bring a victory for Bulgaria…. I believe they are deserving this these last years…

Is nice that he is celebrating all his countries. So strange that some people think Russians can’t be happy in Russia. Is a country where the government has as little involvement as possible in everyday life.

…you can’t be serious. Russia’s freedom index is one of the lowest in the world. Just the fact that their government doesn’t allow people to express their sexuality is enough to show you that people don’t enjoy freedom. But hey, if they’re so comfortable living in a bubble-bubble albeit the income disparities and raging poverty throughout the country, I’ll let them be.

yeah, but that doesn’t mean people can’t live normal there. I mean it’s not like 50% of Russians are LGBT. And gays can still be gays, but there is no need to express that, I mean straight people don’t express their sexuality. (by expressing I do not mean kissing and stuff like that, but pure propaganda, that some homosexuals do. ) And gays can hold hands in Russia, and gays can kiss if they want to. But women are more equal in Russia than in USA.

I can hold my boyfriend’s hand where I live and face no discrimination. That’s exactly what straights do too. In Russia, this is not possible, so yeah your human rights record sucks sorry.

In Russia there is a saying : ”The wife has the house and the husband has the door”. The divorce is easy for women, it is understood that woman takes house and children, while in the west there is ”custody battle” something that would make Russian women mad. If for you ”human rights” means only LGBT, then you will say Russia is hell. Fine.

Equal rights are the CORE of LGBT. For divorce, every situation is different so your sexist method doesn’t work.

well where do you live, because I’m sure that in every country homophobia exists.

Sure it exists everywhere, even in the least homophobic countries in the world, but nowadays intolerance is generally frowned upon in these places. I live in the north of Italy.

Please, stop the anti-Russian propaganda and just visit the country – you will see for yourself how free and happy people are, are they holding hands or not. Don’t believe all the political lies you hear on the media! Real life in Russia is far more than that!

He could’ve done Beautiful Mess in Russian and probably would’ve scored just as well or better than he did.
