Gwenaelle Noval Junior Eurovision Ireland

Junior Eurovision 2017 is just under a month away, but there’s still one country left to announce its entry for Tblisi. Tonight, we came a little closer to Ireland’s big reveal as TG4 broadcast the second of four pre-recorded Junior Eurovision Eire semi-finals.

Over the course of the hour long show, eight talented young singers performed two minutes of their songs before a judging panel made up of Fiachna Ó Braonáin, Bláthnaid Treacy, Dustin the Turkey (Ireland 2008) and Jedward (Ireland 2011 and 2012).

Gwenaelle Noval and Aoife Goodison emerged as the panel’s favourites. After a second performance from each, the jury opted to send Gwenaelle to the final with her song “Lig Dom Lomrú”.

The full line-up for semi-final two was:

  • Mini Mix – “Cairde Go Deo”
  • Gwenaelle Noval – “Lig Dom Lomrú”
  • Adria Gannon – “Sólás”
  • Róise Devlin – “Anonn’s Anall”
  • Aoife Goodison – “Diamaint”
  • Cailín Ní Threinir – “Ní Mhaireann Aon Rud Go Deo”
  • Adam O’Connor – “Do Lá Úrnua é”
  • Chloe Winters – “Cá Bhfuil Tú Anois?”

Gwenaelle will join last week’s winner Muireann McDonnell in the final, along with the qualifiers from the remaining semis.

As we mentioned previously, Murieann’s “Súile Glasa” featured heavily in TG4’s promotional trailer for the overall series. The channel released a second clip during the week, and the song is played once again.

Could this be a hint at the final result? Or are we reading too much between the lines? Remember, the powers that be already know the winner as the show was filmed several months ago.

Junior Eurovision Eire 2017 continues with semi-final three next week. Once again, the show is scheduled for 20:00 on TG4. The final is set for 19 November.

What do you think? Could Gwenaelle Noval be Ireland’s choice for Junior Eurovision 2017? And if so, could she take the Emerald Isle back into the top ten? Let us know in the comments below.

I really like Gwen, she’s a good singer and her Irish is excellent for someone born in the Philippines. I could see the final being between she and Muireann from last week unless someone even stronger comes through from the next two semis,
