He became our Hero in 2015 when he brought home Sweden’s sixth victory at the Eurovision Song Contest. But if you thought Måns Zelmerlöw‘s “Heroes” was just another catchy pop song then you’d better think again.

The beloved Swede is now proving to be a hero of our times by accepting a bet that will support the Zelmerlöw & Björkman Foundation, his organisation that works to improve the lives of vulnerable children in Africa.

Here’s how it’ll work. During 24 hours he will play gigs in eight different cities in four different counties in Sweden. If he succeeds in the task, then the betting site Betsson will donate 100,000 Swedish kronor (approximately 10,000 euros) to the organisation. Perhaps most interesting to all you #mansters is the fact his fans will decide where he performs.

Måns recently signed up for a long-term collaboration with the betting site Betsson and will serve as the new face of the brand and its ambassador for the Swedish market. It coincides with the launch of a new game called Sverigerouletten (Swedenroulette) that has seen Måns challenged to do eight gigs all over in Sweden within 24 hours.

So on Wednesday, November 8 Måns will undertake eight gigs in eight different locations around the country. The counties will be decided by the roulette game and it’s up to his fans to decided where in these counties Måns will play. If you have ever wanted a Eurovision winner to perform at your wedding, birthday, local café or soccer game, then here is your chance! All you have to do is to tag #8på24 (8in24) and explain why Måns should come and play just for you. The most exciting ideas will earn a visit from the Hero himself. The gig will include three different songs and be performed without any accompanying band. Ain’t nobody got time to transport all that equipment!

“This has to be the world’s fastest mini tour,” Måns told Swedish newspaper Expressen. “I love challenges and this journey will be the toughest one I have ever done so far. I will enjoy it and have fun, of course, but at the same time there is so much at stake. To be able to contribute 100,000 Swedish kronor to my foundation means a lot.”

The Zelmerlöw & Björkman Foundation

The Zelmerlöw & Björkman Foundation was founded in 2013 by Måns Zelmerlöw and the former world no. 4 Swedish tennis player Jonas Björkman after Måns visited South Africa. Together they wanted to create a better world for vulnerable children, and to give them an opportunity to live their dreams. So far the foundation has grown to finance one school in Kenya, three schools in South Africa, and a day centre in Uganda. It is currently building a brand new school in Ethiopia.

Måns has always had a big interest in volunteering. As he says on the organisation’s official web site:

“For many years I volunteered with a variety of charities, often with a sense of dissatisfaction. I did not know where the money went or what my effort meant for the children I wanted to help. I myself had a safe upbringing in Lund, Sweden, and I am currently able to do what I always dreamed of: being on stage. This opportunity is what I also want to give children and young people; to live their dreams. Whether it is children who are exceptionally good at math, sports, music or anything else, I believe in giving people the opportunity to help themselves. I wanted to start something that can ultimately be operated and funded entirely on location, without our involvement or money. Vulnerable children and young people should have the opportunity to get an education, they should be given the chance to develop their talents and they should be shown a way out of their current situation. If we give them this, I believe the world will become a better place for us all to live in. This is why I started my foundation.”

Now it’s up to his fans to help him succeed with the task. Come up with ideas and you might be the lucky one to have a visit from mums Måns!

@Matty If I’m not wrong you’re the guy that’s been harrasing him – and his friends – for a very long time now. Didn’t you even got your twitter account shot down at least twice because of this?? And now you’re back once again. If you’re so fascinated by him at least admit it… Or why not seek help? This is getting you nowhere. /Correct me if I’m wrong.

I haven’t got a twitter account and this wouldn’t change the following years.

Maybe he treats her right. He can’t be a bad person if he loves his dog Messi and his puppies.
