Singing heals many wounds. And recently the power of song brought together Australia’s Eurovision alumni for a special charity single to raise money for the vulnerable youth of Australia.

A total of 29 famous Australian singers have joined forces to record a cover of The Beatles’ iconic track “With a Little Help from My Friends”. The track includes the country’s most recent entrants including Guy Sebastian (Vienna 2015), Dami Im (Stockholm 2016), and Isaiah Firebrace (Kyiv 2017), alongside Jessica Mauboy (Copenhagen 2014 interval act), and legendary Australian singer and actress Olivia Newton-John, who represented the United Kingdom in 1974.

The song coincides with the Sony Foundation’s most recent charitable campaign Friends4Youth, which helps support vulnerable young people in Australia who are struggling with issues such as health or homelessness.

All of the funds received by Sony Music from the sale of the single will be donated to the Sony Foundation.

The track may also give eagle-eyed Eurovision fans a sneak peek of Australia’s next Eurovision entrant. In the three years that Australia has competed at the Eurovision Song Contest, the Australian delegation has chosen each of its entrants in partnership with Sony Music Australia — a major funding partner for Australia’s participation in Eurovision to date.

While Australia is yet to confirm whether its entrant for 2018 will also be chosen from the Sony Music label, it has recently ruled out a national final, opting again for an internal selection. Tellingly, long-rumoured singers Delta Goodrem and Samantha Jade appear in the single alongside their Eurovision stalwarts. Cue the rumours!
