The big reveal of the acts competing in Melodifestivalen 2018 is just weeks away. And even more rumoured acts have been revealed by Aftonbladet. The latest rumoured artists are Norwegian electropop star Kamferdrops, comedy legend Jonas Gardell, Swedish Idol act Renaida Braun and folk singer Kalle Moraeus.
Kamferdrops
Kamferdrops is the stage name of upcoming Norwegian musician Heidi Musum. She is known for creating dreamy, electronic versions of Swedish schlager classics. Earlier this year she had a No.2 Swedish chart hit with fellow Melfest 2018 act Kikki Danielsson’s 1999 dansband hit “Jag trodde änglarna fanns”, with Kikki starring in the music video. Kamferdrops keeps a Sia-like mystery to herself, hiding behind wigs, sunglasses, hats and balaclavas on stage.
Jonas Gardell
Jonas Gardell is a hugely successful and popular Swedish comedian, author and playwright. While he has never competed in Melfest before, he has frequently performed on the show and hosted Melfest in 2003 alongside his husband Mark Levengood. Most recently Gardell’s Schlagerskolan sketches featured in Melfest 2016. He has also written a film about Melfest, the 2000 musical comedy Livet är en schlager.
Renaida Braun
Renaida was a contestant on last year’s series of Swedish Idol, where she placed sixth. The 20-year-old singer will also star in the winter musical The Adventures of Aladdin, alongside fellow Idol contestant Charlie Grönvall. She will be making her Melodifestivalen debut.
Kalle Moraeus
Kalle is a successful Swedish folk musician, who is a regular on Swedish television. He is also part of Benny Andersson’s Orchestra. Aftonbladet revealed that Kalle was earmarked for Melfest 2016, but a contractual issue with SVT meant he was unable to commit to the song contest. Instead, the song intended for him in 2016 — “Himmel och hav” — was performed by Roger Pontare.

Aftonbladet also has an update about Alcazar. The paper’s source reports that disco trio still does not have a suitable song for Melodifestivalen and therefore does not have a guaranteed place in the show. Aftonbladet‘s source notes that Alcazar’ last Melfest appearance — where they performed “Blame it on the Disco” — was not confirmed until the very last moment.
The paper also notes that there are “less than two weeks left to SVT’s press conference” where the competing acts will be introduced. The date itself hasn’t been confirmed, but we’re guessing this will be some time around 27 November.
Kamferdrops, Jonas Gardell, Renaida Braun and Kalle Moraeus will be joined at Melodifestivalen 2018 by Kikki Danielsson, Martin Almgren, Alcazar, Ida Redig, John Lundvik, Olivia Eliasson, Benjamin Ingrosso, Felix Sandman, Méndez, Sigrid Bernson, Samir & Viktor and P4 Nästa winner Stiko Per Larsson.
What do you think? How is the Melfest 2018 line-up turning out? Who else would you like to see in the show? Share your thoughts below!
I’m not excited about any of the artists so far. Perhaps Alcazar and Kamferdrops, if they are participating. But Alcazar better bring something different from what they have done before. I’m still hoping for Darin and Agnes, like these past three years..
please molly PH????????????????

If we’re talking about comedy acts, I kinda wish we could see de vet du.
I would love to see molly ph and isa back
i want sabina ddumba
Yes, please 🙂
I hope Molly PH is going to return and slay this time!
If she comes back, I think she can win, given what we know so far about the roster.
Hoping for a showdown between comeback queens Alice and Molly PH. If that’s even possible.
Kamferdrops looks like Post Malone after his first shower in a decade. Electro-schlager, now I’m intrigued.
Bring back Oscar Zia! My fave artist from Melfest 2016!
The line-up so far is not a potential top3 in Eurovision , but still more acts to be part in Melfest18 , so hope for big names , or big artists.
Yeah they’re all just rumors so far. We won’t find out who’s going to officially participate until they announce the actual song entries for 2018
Kamferdrops. Yeah!!!
Damn, at first I thought that was a Snoop Dogg.
