The big reveal of the acts competing in Melodifestivalen 2018 is merely five days away and rumoured acts are still popping up. Aftonbladet is reporting that Swedish Idol winner Liam “Liamoo” Cacatian Thomassen and parody dansband Rolandz will be part of the line-up.

Liamoo

Singer and rapper Liam Cacatian Thomassen — who performs as Liamoo — was the winner of the 2016 edition of Swedish Idol. His debut single “Playing with Fire” reached No.6 in the Swedish charts. Earlier this year he released another flame-related single, “Burn”.

Other Idol stars rumoured for Melfest 2018 are Idol 2015 winner Martin Almgren and 2016 alum Renaida Braun.

Rolandz

Rolandz is a parody dansband fronted by the hugely popular comedian Robert Gustafsson. Rolandz is based on a fictional character (Roland Järverup, a dansband fan) created by Gustafsson’s comedy troupe Killinggänget. Rolandz came to fame through a performance on the talent show Dansbandskampen in 2008. The group has made multiple appearances on singalong show Allsång på Skansen.

Aftonbladet reports that such is the popularity of Robert Gustafsson and Rolandz, Melfest organisers had hoped to keep the news of their involvement in the song contest a secret so it would be a big surprise at the big reveal on Tuesday.

Aftonbladet also confirms Hänt‘s earlier news that Mariette is another name on the 2018 roster.

Liamoo and Rolandz will be joined at Melodifestivalen 2018 by Dotter, Mariette, Edward Blom, Emmi Christensson, Jessica Andersson, Emilia Rydberg Mitiku, Kamferdrops, Jonas Gardell, Renaida Braun, Kalle MoraeusKikki Danielsson, Martin AlmgrenAlcazar, Ida Redig, John Lundvik, Olivia EliassonBenjamin Ingrosso, Felix Sandman, Méndez, Sigrid BernsonSamir & Viktor and P4 Nästa winner Stiko Per Larsson.

This makes a total of 24 rumoured acts, out of a total of 28 acts that will (probably) be heading to the semi-finals in February.

What do you think? How is the Melfest 2018 line-up shaping up? Who else would you like to see announced on Tuesday? Share your thoughts below!

Well, some of this rumoured acts will not ve competing in Melodifestivalen 2018 but I remember article from Wiwibloggs in September where they spotted some famous and Eurovision-related artists in the studio and it was the question whether they could be recording their songs for Melfest. So I wonder how many artists of those will be actually seen in February 🙂

I could see Liam doing well, even winning! He has a fanbase. And is a good artist!
I can see Rolandz making it to the final. But doubt it will win, especially with an international jury voting. It has that Ove Thörnqvist and Björn Ranelid feeling. Plus that they are actual famous.
As for Mariette doubt third time is the charm..

How cares about all these rumored acts? Shall we see rumored artists for all the other national selections? That would be fair, right? Except Sweden is favored every year, let’s not forget this year in the Wiwi jury’s favorite acts from all the national selections Sweden got 8-10 acts, while countries like Albania or Romania had 0 acts in that …. Eurovision will never be fair with small countries

It depends on the type of selection. Some countries don’t have rumors yet. Just nothing new. Maybe Melodifestivalen has a better PR that knows how to start rumors, in other countries the submissions have not started yet. How many articles have you read about Sanremo 2018? None.

“…there are reporters in Sweden dedicated to finding out who’s competing” – Robyn, as I see all articles about rumours for Melfest 2018 are written by you. But isn’t New Zealand and Sweden on the different sides of the globe ? 🙂

Liamoo !<3 He has amazing stage precence and charisma. He's voice gives me goosebumps. He needs uptempo, modern song.

Sweden scraping the bottom of the barrel again. Shame considering how many good artists there are here. But I suppose none of them wants to appear in this crappy contest.
