There’s not long to wait now. On Tuesday we will find out the 28 acts competing in Melodifestivalen 2018. But before the big confirmation, two more names have slipped out. Rapper Moncho and 15-year-old singer Elias Abbas are on the list. Aftonbladet has also revealed that six-time Melfest veteran Jessica Andersson is a definite for Melfest.

Jessica Andersson

Earlier in the week, Jessica Andersson was named as a potential artist for Melfest, but at the time, Aftonbladet was careful to emphasise that her place in the show had not been confirmed yet.

But now it seems the six-time Melodifestivalen veteran is going to make it number seven. Aftonbladet’s source says Jessica will be competing with an upbeat number that will appeal to Mello fans. In her most recently Melfest appearance, she performed the power ballad “Can’t Hurt Me Now” in 2015, which placed 11th.

Moncho

Ramón Monserrat — who performs as Moncho — is a rapper and vocalist from Uppsala. He has previously been involved with the hip hop and reggae group LöstFolk. He will make his solo debut in Melodifestivalen.

Elias Abbas

Upcoming singer Elias Abbas is also on the list for Melfest 2018. Right now he’s only 15, but he will turn 16 in December, ensuring he’ll be well over the minimum age in May next year. Elias released his debut single “Min Queen” earlier this year. Aftonbladet reports that Elias will perform a song written by the prolific songwriter Hamed “K-One” Pirouzpanah. His previous works include Sanna Nielsen’s “Undo”, Robin Bengtsson’s “I Can’t Go On” and Alcazar’s “Blame it on the Disco”.

Jessica Andersson, Elias Abbas and Moncho will be joined at Melodifestivalen by Liamoo, RolandzDotter, Mariette, Edward Blom, Emmi Christensson, Emilia Rydberg MitikuKamferdrops, Jonas Gardell, Renaida Braun, Kalle MoraeusKikki Danielsson, Martin AlmgrenAlcazar, Ida Redig, John Lundvik, Olivia EliassonBenjamin Ingrosso, Felix Sandman, Méndez, Sigrid BernsonSamir & Viktor and P4 Nästa winner Stiko Per Larsson.

This makes a total of 24 rumoured acts, out of a total of 28 acts that will (probably) be heading to the semi-finals in February. Two acts that were previously rumoured — Emilia Rydberg Mitiku and Alcazar — are no longer listed by Aftonbladet as potential acts. *sad face*

Aftonbladet’s source says the line-up for Melfest 2018 is more or less confirmed, but there may be a few acts the show is trying to get on board in these last remaining days.

Well, yes Slovak broadcaster prefers domestic products or german soap opera 😀 and of course it’s a pity that we dont participate but we was only 7 times in Eurovision (i think), in a comparision with some another countries, whitch were almost 60 times …and yes if you got a great song and also perfomance you can easily win and i think it’s about time, we broke the spell and make it final. I just want to say that our broadcaster was thought that we would be a winner in 2009 – 2012, but sometimes it’s also about song and… Read more »

Sorry to say this, but the line up seems a little weak compared to the last 3-4 years. Maybe this could end up like 2010 in a non-qualification from Sweden

Another day, another pointless article about wiwi’s favorite, Sweden. Same thing tomorrow: “Another-rumored-acts-for-melfest-who-won’t-even-compete”. Let’s wait for that God damn list so we won’t see suppositions anymore and to see the actual competing artists names.

I’m very sure Melfest will be just as good as it has always been, with either established acts or newcomers! And yes it is still dry season, I expect that to change in December! Off topic 1: Many countries have revealed their plans on how to select their 2018 artist and song. I’m expecting Croatia, Macedonia and Russia to select internally. However a few countries usually using national selections haven’t given any news so far. Does anyone know something about a potential national show in Georgia and Belarus? Moldova is also one of them but I assume they go for… Read more »

@Michael Adam We trying success many times …but after Kristína and Twiins didn’t make to the final…it’s hard to compete when you don’t have a friends …ok we have CZ but they’re always in the another semi final 😀 As a Slovak, I hope we will be back again, but as I said it’s hard to compete…and i thing Slovak people want be a part of Eurovision, but broadcaster don’t want be a part …and you know, some countries are always in the final just mension some of them – Azerbaijan, Australia, Russia, Ukraine or Romania …I feel bad for… Read more »

Don’t be sorry about your English it’s very good. And thanks for the answer. I truly hope Slovakia decides to be back anytime soon. Especially with slogans like ‘All Aboard’ they shouldn’t miss out on the party. I myself come from a country which isn’t part of any particular bloc, The Netherlands. This county is a good example of how years and years we missed the final (also with a lot of crap songs to be honest) but since a few years we managed to reach the final again. And as Portugal and Austria for example have proven, it is… Read more »

Jessica is an excellent ballad singer, which means she unfortunately won’t go far in 2017.
Rap just isn’t my thing, so I’m not really hyped for Moncho.
Finally, I have zero expectations from a guy whose song is called “Min Queen”.

Jessica Andersson, with an uptempo song? Will it be like “Kom” or “Kalla Nätter” or something modern?

I wonder if some of this rumoured artists will NOT be in Melodifestivalen. So sad for them. Is there any risk for any on that list to not be there after all?

These are just still rumours, after all! Some of these will compete, some will not. It would be unlikely if it turns out that none of the rumoured artists won’t compete. But more likely than not that some won’t be there. Last year many of the rumoured didn’t compete. And many like Robin Bengtsson or Loreen, weren’t even rumoured.

Other countries should provide news too, if they want exposure. Some countries don’t want exposure too early, because is not always a good thing (I’m looking at you, the great favorite of 2017, Occidentalis Karma).
Just stop complaining.
