Lidia Isac eliminated from The Voice of Romania

On Friday night, during an impressive live show of The Voice of Romania, Lidia Isac showed a lot of promise. She performed the Eurythmics’ “There Must Be An Angel (Playing With My Heart)” flawlessly, and it seemed that Moldova‘s Eurovision star would go through to the next stage of the contest. However, the competition was tough and Lidia was saved neither by the viewing public nor by her coach and had to bid farewell to the talent show. Sad face 🙁

Despite a pitch perfect performance and an engaging show featuring Stormtrooper wannabes, the Moldovan singer was not able to steal the hearts of the Romanian viewers, who voted for The Voice of Romania favourite Stefan Stiuca, while Lidia’s coach Tudor Chirila chose to save another contestant, Maria Radeanu.

Until that moment, Lidia’s journey on The Voice of Romania had been a very successful one. After turning all four chairs at the blind audition, she shone brighter than her fellow contestant at the Battle round. However, her luck went dry on her first live show, when she had to go against three fellow competitors from her team and only two advanced to the next stage.

Referring to the name of the song she performed on Friday night, Lidia Isac went to Facebook to address her elimination.

It seems that angels have other plans for me from now on. I had a lot of fun on the stage of The Voice! A lot of positive emotions, but also surprises. I would like to thank [coach] Tudor for giving me this song, the team behind the stage and the band. I thank viewers for their support! Show must go on! Good luck to my colleagues!

Lidia was not the only name known to Eurofans who competed on The Voice of Romania last night. Fellow Moldovan Diana Brescan, who finished third at this year’s national final, advanced to the next round as part of coach Loredana’s team. She performed Caro Emerald’s hit song “A Night Like This” and was saved by her coach after viewers voted for another singer from her team.

We are sorry to see Lidia Isac eliminated from The Voice of Romania, but we are keeping our fingers crossed for Diana Brescan to take the Moldovan banner further in the talent show.

Why esc divas don’t sing like Caro Emerald? Why do we need to hear only screams and vocal masturbations, instead of an interesting song that tells a story?
