She’s one of Poland’s hottest pop exports who rose to fame in the country’s national selection for Eurovision 2016 with the viral hit “Cool Me Down”.

And today Margaret made it clear she’s ready to go global with the news that she’ll compete in the second semi-final of Melodifestivalen 2018 in Gothenburg with the song “In My Cabana”.

“I have Swedish producers, a Swedish record label and Swedish friends,” she tells our man-in-Sweden Kevin. “I’ve been here so many times it feels like home for me.”

“But the main reason that I’m here is the God of Melodifestivalen liked my song — that’s the main reason.”

That god, of course, is Mr Christer Björkman, the head honcho of Melodifestivalen who will also help produce Eurovision 2018 in Lisbon.

“It turned out that Christopher saw me somewhere on TV here in Sweden, and we prepared a song and they liked it. And here I am.”

We put the question to Christer himself a few moments later, and he was full of praise of the Polish hitmaker, saying that she has already made a name for herself in Sweden owing to her previous work. You can watch that interview here.

Cabanas — those huts or cabins that provide shelter at the beach or swimming pool — frequently feature scantily-clad ladies and gents. Will that dictate the vibe of the song?

“I’m really, really excited. It’s a great opportunity for me to perform my song ‘In My Cabana’ — and it’s a really cool song.”

“It’s a sexy song. It’s cocky, a little bit. It’s just about having fun and [isn’t concerned with] all the problems and saving lives and saving the world. Those three minutes…phew…it’s all good.”

She’s teamed up with an all-star writing team that includes Anderz Wrethov, Linnea Deb, Arash Labaf and Robert Uhlman.

Linnea, you’ll remember, co-wrote Eurovision 2015 winning song “Heroes” from Måns Zelmerlöw, while Arash is behind a number of bangers, including “Always” from Azerbaijan in 2009. It placed third.

“The whole team is Swedish and it’s always been, so it feels very natural for me to be here,” the blonde bombshell tells us. “And I’m just excited about the performance. Melodifestivalan has been always so amazing show, and I’m just looking forward because that song deserves a great show.”

She’s been a busy bee in recent months, releasing songs like “What You Do”, which featured a funky video game music video. She isn’t ready to stop.

“There are a lot of things that are going to happen,” she says. “Sweden is just so dear to me.”

Finally, we just had to ask her what naughtiness happens in her cabana.

Clever and coy as ever, she doesn’t skip a beat: “What happens in my cabana stays in my cabana.”

You really should not go to Margaret Eurovision in Sweden. Because it is not real, it is not Swedish. She is Polish and comes from Poland. Go there to Eurovision 2018 for Poland. Margaret’s fans are furious. Please, please. Return to Eurovision 2018 Poland.

Don’t get the focus on Margaret. She’s more of a fanwank than a good artist. “Cool Me Down” isn’t even that good. I get why the Poles didn’t want it to represent them, it wouldn’t have got that far. It was a minor hit in Sweden, don’t make it out as some big hit.

I don’t really know how a bad copy of an average Rihanna’s song got so much praise. But what I’m really surprised about is how this girl is still adored while it’s clear she can’t deliver live that type of songs.

If you want a great show you must have the vocals too, it isn’t enought n impressive staging.

If Margaret hasn’t learnt how to sing, I think this will flop.

I thought she stated just some months ago she was finished with Eurovision?

I’m afraid we will hear Havana 2.
However, she is one of my favourites, since she deserved to be on that Eurovision stage already in 2016.

Could this be another Loreen in repeat? Will Swedish audience get behind her? Will she actually up her singing? Not convinced.

Björkman wanted to take advantage of the Margaret hype among fans because the Melody-festival does not have many big names this year.

Margaret wants the promo in Sweden and another hit.

Win-Win situation.

I feel Despacito vibes from her song. If this is the case, she’s canceled.

She cannot sing live.
Luckily for her you can get a vocal on the backtrack in Melfest.
Unlucky for her is that in ESC you ACTUALLY have to sound decent live,
I smell a flop

It’s the other way around:
She actually CAN sing live. 🙂
I don’t smell a flop. 🙂

Show me at least one of her live performances which actually sounded clear and nice.

Since when have vocal abilities mattered at Melodifestivalen? Most of their finalists can’t sing, think Frans, FLO&P, Ace Wilder, Eric Saade and many others–but their songs were bops, which is more important imo.
