Ukraine: Tayanna wants public to select her entry for 2018 national final

She’s the Ukranian diva who almost won the 2017 national final. Now Tayanna is back for revenge, as she launches her 2018 campaign. And this time she wants the public to choose her song.

Earlier this year, Tayanna made it to the grand final of Ukraine’s national selection with her intense ballad “I Love You”. It picked up top points from the jury in the grand final and was the fourth-ranked song in the televote.

This put “I Love You” on the same number of total points as O Torvald’s “Time”. The tiebreak came down to the televote favourite, which ensured that O Torvald would be the act performing on home turf in May.

But now Tayanna is making another bid for Eurovision and she’s letting the public guide her on song choice. Tayanna confirmed her Eurovision plans on a recent Instagram post.

Under a photo of her holding her trophy for Breakthrough of the Year at the M1 Music Awards, Tayanna wrote, “This year, I decided again to try my hand at the Eurovision Song Contest. I will do everything that depends on me to represent Ukraine at the competition in Portugal.” Y’all, she is serious!

In conjunction with Lux FM and NRJ radio stations, a poll has been launched for the public to weigh in on which song Tayanna should enter. Four songs have been shortlisted from Tayanna’s new mini album Trimaj mene (Hold me).

The songs are “Kvitka”, “Mliyu”, “Sila” and “Trimaj mene”. The online poll will run from 13 to 15 December.

Tayanna is the second artist confirmed for a national final comeback. Last month, fellow 2017 finalist Melovin revealed he was in the process of working on an entry for 2018.

The broadcasters have also confirmed the third and final member of the national final jury. Eugene Filatov — musician, producer and frontman of The Maneken — will join Jamala and Andriy “Verka Serduchka” Danylko on the judging panel.

Which song should Tayanna take to Ukraine’s national final?

We also want to hear what you think. Listen to the four songs and vote for the song you think Tayanna should perform in Ukraine’s national final. You can vote for as many songs as you like, but you can only vote once so make it count!
