The first ten of the 18 competing artists for Destination Eurovision have already been revealed. So now it’s time to meet number 11. The latest artist to be confirmed is Enea, who already has some Eurovision experience. She was part of the French jury for Eurovision 2017.

Born Sonia Boraso, Enea came to fame by winning NRJ Talent 2016, run by French radio station NRJ. She’s been singing since she was a child and finds that music is the best way to express herself.

This isn’t Enea’s first experience with Eurovision. She was part of the French jury for Kyiv. And because you’re wondering, her top three ranked countries in the grand final were Bulgaria, the UK and Norway. Enea ranked Portugal seventh, but it was still the top-ranked country from the French jury.

Enea is known for her Justin Bieber mashup and last year she released her debut single “Je t’écris” (I’m writing to you).

Unlike some of the other promo videos, which introduce us to the artist straight away, Enea’s video is a little mysterious.

For the first 30 seconds, she’s shown only from obscure angles. The emphasis is on her words, as she speaks about the importance of music in her life. Enea also talks about Eurovision, describing it as “something impressive”.

Enea will sing “I’ll Be There” at Destination Eurovision. It has a contemporary sound, with a mix of folky and tropical house themes. The lyrics are in both French and English, and Enea effortlessly shifts between the two.

This is the best entry yet in my opinion. Something about it just feels magical. Musically it’s very elaborate while still remaining contemporary. Hopefully Enea’s voice will translate well onto the live stage.

Hmmm. Ze English iz not so good. Enéa may want to consider singing entirely in French. As another commenter has said below, Alma’s choice to include English last year slightly backfired, and I get a similar vibe with Enéa. Once again, however, this appears to be a good entry musically.

Last time I checked, the minimum amount of French lyrics is 70%.

France options should have risen quite drastically cause almost all the songs are pretty good. I did not plan watching the semi-finals but with all this quality I’ll be forced to do so. Good job and thanks!!!

Bonsoir Lisboa,
